That is a heck of a list...imagine if they all played

at the same time on same team...Oh boy!

my granddad always says he wishes he could've have seen him play in this offense. He had "legit 4.3 40 time, glue hands and a football mentality" quote unquote

How the heck do you have a list like this and not have Jerry Butler on it? Are we too old? Is that ancient history now? Come on. Remember the ones that paved the way before you.

Butler's catch against USC alone is enuf to put him on that list. Also, when NFL scout came to time him at Clemson after his last season, he was clocked at 4.19....and he ran in blue jeans!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Jerry Butler?***

Dec 19, 2015, 5:08 PM

I seriously doubt that Jerry butler ran a 4.19 in jeans. Jacoby ford ran a 4.24 and he was a national champion sprinter in track cleats and spandex

What excites me most is ...

Dec 17, 2015, 2:59 PM

I am most grateful that I'll never have to hear Brent Musburger talking over the top of Tiger football action during the regular season at least.

Re: Wait what?***

Dec 17, 2015, 3:53 PM

Musburger does SEC network exclusively

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No I understand that part

Dec 18, 2015, 10:40 AM

why do you not want to hear him call Clemson games? He's always been a friend to Clemson, coined the term "most exciting 25 seconds in college football" and is an official member of the Esso Club.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Terry Smith should be on that list.

Dec 17, 2015, 3:03 PM

And you could make a good argument that Nuk > Sammy. But that's splitting hairs.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

AAron Kelly isnt even top 10

Dec 17, 2015, 5:47 PM

1.Nuk
2.Sammy
3.Butler
4.Tuttle
5.Mike Williams
6.Gardner
7.ANTWAN WYATT
8.Roscoe Crosby
9.Tony Horne
10.T. Rhoulac
11.kelly

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

this is REALLY a stretch

Dec 18, 2015, 2:20 AM

with Mike Williams top 5 and 7-10. Mike Williams has had a few plays but no more than Airese Currie at this point. And 7- 10 is very much orange tinted nostalgia. All Rhoulac could catch was an uppercut from Terrance Flagler... LOL... pretty good athlete, some toughness and MUCH more mouth than gifts as a receiver, but Keith Jennings was a much better receiver than Rhoulac but he was actually a tight end who didn't want to grow up and no longer be a receiver...

Re: AAron Kelly isnt even top 10

Dec 18, 2015, 12:56 PM [ in reply to AAron Kelly isnt even top 10 ]

How are you going to put mike Williams ahead of a guy that left clemson as the acc career receptions leader?!
How are you going to put make Williams ahead of a 2 time all-American
ROSCOE CROSBY?!?! Won't even go there

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Crosby was a bust. Kelly was a money receiver.***

Hamilton would have been unstoppable in today's offense really hate he blew his knee out never had a shot at the next level he never was the same after his knee injury

I bet within 4 years that top 10 won't have more than maybe 2 players that played before Nuke and Sammy.

Your list is right on. May have flipped Chansi & Ford. Jacoby gets the nod for special team results and NCAA records

Dec 17, 2015, 3:31 PM

I think Deon Cain is going to be the next great one besides Mike Williams

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have them like this....

Dec 17, 2015, 4:45 PM

1- Watkins
2- Hopkins
3- Hamilton
4- Gardner
5- Cooper

#21

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Are you including Gary Cooper??

Dec 18, 2015, 2:07 AM

No harm intended, but Coop ahead of Butler or Tuttle or even Aaron Kelly??? I'm taking Doug Thomas before Coop, and I like Coop personally. He would even laugh at this... LOL

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jerry Butler is in the ring of honor for goodness sake...

Dec 17, 2015, 6:20 PM

Come on ACCDN.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL... uhhh, no. Not just no, but hell no......

Dec 17, 2015, 7:29 PM

Not even close. Jerry Butler has to be at worst #2... maybe #1. He was a consensus 1st Team All American, the first WR taken in the NFL Draft, the #5 overall pick in the NFL Draft, NFL Rookie of the Year, and made Pro Bowl teams.

I'm pretty #### sure nobody but Sammy Watkins can even hold a candle to that... MAYBE. We'll see.

The best ones all should have a "Catch" that separates them

Dec 17, 2015, 8:00 PM

Jerry Butler ("THE Catch!")
Rod Gardner (Yep ... "The Push-off", LOL)
Nuk Hopkins (4th & 16? Of course)
Perry Tuttle (Put the icing on our Orange Bowl cake)
Sammy Watkins (Trucked that poor Dawg on the way to the EZ, and many others)

Loved Aaron Kelly, but what we remember most was the big one he "almost" had versus BC. Simply got to have Jerry Butler instead.

I had forgotten just how special Watkins was

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Miss watching him... you could hear him pluck the ball

Dec 18, 2015, 7:10 AM

out of the air!

I have always thought that the clip where he is in "a footrace to the endzone" and high stepping, that he was toying with them to make the highlight reel.

That was my favorite WR clip of all time until Scott's tight rope down the sideline against USuC!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Really? No Jerry Butler?? That's weak!

Dec 18, 2015, 10:52 AM

Could be #1, but is definitely no lower than #3 on that list.

1. Nuk Hopkins
2. Jerry Butler
3. Sammy Watkins
4. Perry Tuttle
5. Rod Gardner

Dec 18, 2015, 1:37 PM

In terms of what they actually did on the field, (including high and lows)...

1. Nuke Hopkins
2. Rod Gardner
3. Sammy Watkins
4. Tony Horne
5. Derrick Hamilton

Honorable mention
Kevin Youngblood
Airese Curry
Antuan Wyatt
Adam Humphries
Jaron Brown
Artavis Scott

Clemson's Top 5 receivers of all-time -BENNY CUNNINGHAM

Dec 19, 2015, 9:49 AM

The most dominant, and least used, to ever wear orange was Benny Cunningham....but they never had him in the game plan. 20 catches a year?!!! I saw 5 gamecocks struggle to tackle him on one play...together!! DOMINANT for forgotten.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No way this list should exclude Jerry Butler!

Dec 19, 2015, 10:18 AM

Can you imagine his stats if he was involved in our current offense?
