GAP between Tigers and coots, Part 2

Jun 26, 2019, 6:12 PM

I have a problem when people are unreasonable (which is why I always have problems with coots!). So, again, real proof that the gap in recruiting between the two schools is getting wider...

If you take the point difference in the 247 Composite each year for the last 10 years, starting with 2020 and going to 2011, it looks like this:

85.02
28.29
41.63
11.33
54.39
47.49
01.40
25.65
-7.04
25.60

Now,if you average the first 5 years, that is 18.62 in our favor. The last five years (when we STARTED our win streak), it is 44.13 in our favor! As far as the actual numbers, for 2020, our current number is 297.92, which is our highest of any of the ten years...The coots? The 2020 year is currently 212.90, which is the lowest of any of their ten years!!!! How could they start making this "closing the gap in recruiting" comments THIS YEAR???

I bet

If you broke it down by average player ranking in those classes the gap would be even wider after you take into account varying class sizes.

I’m not going to do the legwork because laziness but I’m confident those numbers would depict an even more dire picture for our feathered “friends”

I am not going to weight it for the numbers in each class (that is real math), but here is the difference between the average stars (247 Composite) for each of the last 10 years (for example, 2020, Clemson 94.56, Coots 89.4, difference is 5.16):

5.16
0.67
4.48
4.96
4.28
2.49
-0.18
0.48
0.48
0.63

By the way, coots had 242 commits to our 218. So we are more picky and getting better recruits. The average stars for the ten years; Tigers 90.26, Coots 87.92... notice their average of 87.92 is higher than only one year for the Tigers, which was 2011 (87.17), and their highest (2020, 89.4), has been beaten by Clemson the last 5 years (our average the last 5 years is 92.03) (their average the last 5 years is 88.12)!

So to answer your question, over the last 10 years, we have averaged 2.35 better in average stars per player than coots....but over the last 5 years, that average has INCREASED to 3.91...a 67% increase!

Hey, I just joined, to see if I liked it after all of these years of looking at the posts...I do like it, so now I need to just go ahead and pay...So that I can edit!

By that, the post above should read average recruit rating, not stars!

Great breakdown +1

Nice to have hard numbers to dismantle their silly claims. Thanks for doing the number crunching

OK, what the heck, the numbers were already in the spread sheet, so here is the average player rating for those same 10 years. The list is the difference in the average player rating between the two schools (2020, Clemson 16.55, coots 15.21, for a difference of 1.34):

1.34
-1.25
5.68
8.31
4.88
3.26
0.07
0.19
2.14
1.59

Yes, surprised their average was higher than ours last year, maybe that is the source of their rants? So, over the 10 years, it averages to 2.62 points higher per commit for the Tigers! But! The first 5 years, it was 10.93 to 9.48, or a difference of 1.45 per recruit. The last 5 years, the numbers were 14.54 to 10.75, or a whopping 3.8 per recruit difference, or a percentage increase of 162%!!! So, yes, we are increasing the gap on a rating per recruit basis better than the raw numbers listed above!!

What really boggles the mind is that they have any fans at all. I mean, Ugay fans are delusional, but at least they have sniffed relevancy. These coots perpetually celebrate
an eventual failed season only to proclaim yet again, wait till next year.

Look at the depth charts

Jun 26, 2019, 9:19 PM

I would be hard pressed to find a single player on their roster that would be a starter for us. In fact there are very few that would make the 2 deep. Thats all you need to look at to see the gap is getting wider. Need more proof? How many of their 2020 class have an offer from Clemson?

That would be apples to oranges...we do not offer the players they have for character issues, not abilities. Some of them have talent, but we know they would be bad apples because they are not Clemson MEN!Once Dabo knows they are seriously considering the coots, then he knows they are not able to be Tigers!

I hate all things scar, but they have two players we wanted but did not offer them at the position that scar has them on the roster. Joyner and Edwards I believe

We wanted Ortre Smith as a TE. He would have been starting this year, maybe last year too. Joyner as a CB and Edwards as a safety would both be playing, maybe not starting.
