Healthy Howard has sights set on starting job

Injuries limited running back D.J. Howard to just 34 carries last season. Finally healthy, he says he knows he has an opportunity to impress the coaches this spring and win the starting job. Full Story »

Must've been a pretty serious injury if Rod Hall was able to jump him on the depth chart.

I wouldnt be surprised at all if the ole deuce-deuce wins that starting spot. He is a monster when he is healthy.

Howard will be fortunate to keep...............

the backup job, barring unforeseen injuries. His style of running is laboring and prone to injury. I've only watched tape on the freshmen, but Brooks and Dye look better. Not sure about Gallman yet. I hope I'm wrong. The more the merrier.

I think you are right and McDowell probably holds

off the fleet this year and next year its a Dye-Brooks battle for #1 (that is if Cook doesn't pass up everyone......if he comes.....)

I was able to attend practice a few weeks ago and D.J. looked pretty good to me. McD was also very impressive. I think that the Tigers are in good shape at running back--- regardless if who starts.

Does he still run standing straight up?

At 185 lbs, I just don't see Brooks as a significant factor at RB. Hope I'm wrong, but at 6'1", he looks pretty frail.

Hope all of our Backs do a stellar, bang up job this season***
