How to Pick Up The Basketball Program

Mar 11, 2015, 9:46 PM

We need to fire Brad Brownell. He's had one too many chances to prove himself that he can make us a winning program. We need to hire a big name coach or just anyone who has the ability to recruit good players. For example, let's say (I know this would never happen) that we hire somebody like coach K. Obviously, we would see a tremendous change in our program and we would actually be able to compete with the big dogs of the ACC. I'm just tired of seeing a sorry, mediocre basketball team that is extremely hard to root for. Brad just needs to go.

You are so wrong

He's not going anywhere. The administration understands basketball and building a program. The lunatic fringe does not.

Missing the NIT in your 5th season isn't building.

He will be here because of his buyout, but he has lost a lot of fan support.

Reality check for you

A few numbskulls on a tigernet do not represent the majority. They are indeed the lunatic fringe.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We need to get a poll going...t-net sample could be

representative of the masses maybe...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What specifically are you seeing...

Mar 11, 2015, 10:14 PM [ in reply to You are so wrong ]

that leads you to believe that? And I'm not talking about facilities... I'm talking about what Brownell has done with THIS team THIS season that gives you such optimism? Or are your high hopes mainly tied to the shiny new building?

If the latter, I'd say it's just wishful thinking on your part.

Yea, we basically collapsed down the stretch, but at one

point we were 6-4 and looking pretty strong for an NCAA tournament. And that was with THIS team THIS season. For one second try to imagine what we would have been with a true point guard. Changes the entire complexion. If Holmes or whomever can fill those shoes, then there is zero doubt we will be a vastly improved team next year. THIS team.

Answer:

Bring in a true point guard. Period.

By the way, Brad is going nowhere. Go complain about death or taxes - you'll get farther.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We have 2 coming in next year

Mar 11, 2015, 10:22 PM

A junior transfer and a 4* freshman, both true PG's.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm with ya hoss.

Mar 11, 2015, 10:24 PM

Will be much different with an improvement at that position. So many issues will improve by quality point guard play.

Losing Filer hurt more than I thought this year

Mar 11, 2015, 10:30 PM

He was our most athletic defender at PG and probably the best (but occasionally erratic) with the ball in his hands.

He was also the most vocal leader we had

I think that hurt more than anything

You find a big name coach with no practice facility or gym

Mar 11, 2015, 10:30 PM

and get back to me.

Brownell has 2 more years MINIMUM!

Mar 11, 2015, 10:34 PM

That is the problem. 7 years to possibly make a program good again is way too long.

In a nutshell, keep the "D" throw out the "O"

Mar 12, 2015, 12:21 PM

Again, its the APPROACH to offense that is wrong ... pick up the pace, ATTACK the basket, put MORE shots up, let 'em play

That's it
