I really can't find anybody that is a fan of pool play. Let's face it, it stinks. We have bad weather coming in and yet NC State and Ga Tech have both played two meaningless games and Virginia will play one later today. It's beyond awful. Under the current format, ten teams make the tourney and then two are eliminated the first day.
However....during the ACC spring meetings it seems the ACC coaches voted to go to a 12-team, double elimination tourney. Under that format, a true champion is crowned and two more teams make the tourney. But the officials nixed the coaches vote and kept it the status quo. Just brutal

Interesting. I've heard a few times that "the coaches like it." But the vote flies in the face of that.
Huge shocker that ACC Officials are the ones to blame for this garbage.
David, any thoughts about how Clemson Officials would react to the rain-out rule if it indeed came to that? Any way to appeal or at least a chance they would make some noise about how ridiculous it is?

Just who the heck are these 'officials' -
sounds like the same folks I've dealt with in the past - always like to say double elim is too many games - yada yada - when Double Elim will add like 1-3 total games at most -
Total crap.

powers that be like it? Do they think it saves the better teams' pitchers for the regionals and could help the ACC get more teams into the Supers, which could translate into more in the CWS?
Did the fact that the ACC had such a long drought in the CWS create this desperation causing them to go to pool play in 2014?
UVA did make the CWS finals in 2014 and won in 2015.

pool play does have advantages......

saves pitching and you always when you play.....
sometimes its a crappy way to crown a champ....
and now that 11 a m is the new prime time.....
