With conference realignments looming ahead did not want to risk any flak before re-election. Should be a school to school decision anyway.

Feb 9, 2012, 9:06 AM

1952: Game Mandated by South Carolina Law
The Southern Conference almost brought the longstanding rivalry to an abrupt end when it ordered Clemson to play no other league team other than Maryland (both Clemson and Carolina were members at the time). Upon request of both schools' presidents, the S.C. General Assembly passed a resolution on Feb. 27, 1952, ordering the game to be played.[57] The Gamecocks won the contest 6-0. The S.C. law still stands in the books today requiring both teams to play each other every year.

They also had a law in place forbidding interacial marriage

Feb 9, 2012, 10:57 AM

...and yet me and my wife got married.

law

Feb 9, 2012, 11:00 AM

So wonder why that law wasn't mentioned? Doesn't make sense. With the conferences getting larger...I bet there will come a time when they can't fit one another into their schedules. That would be a shame...but that is one reason for leagues to not get so large.

I wouldn't lose any sleep if we never played you guys again

Feb 9, 2012, 11:40 AM

Honestly, it's just another out of conference game to me.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Might work in our favor for there not to be law....

Feb 9, 2012, 2:46 PM

For those wanting out of the ACC like me, it might pressure Sakerlina to put pressure on Slive to let us into the SEC.

Find the law? If it was already there then why would anyone bring it up again?

the SC books.

Musical instruments may not be sold on sunday.

Horses may not be kept in bathtubs.

A permit must be obtained to fire a missle.

When approaching a four way or blind intersection in a non-horse driven vehicle you must stop 100 ft from the intersection and discharge a firearm into the air to warn horse traffic.

Every adult male must bring a rifle to church on Sunday in order to ward off Indian attacks.

A person must be eighteen years old to play a pinball machine.

Horses are to wear pants at all times.

Eating watermelons in the Magnolia Street cemetery is forbidden.

And in Alabama its illegal to have an ice cream cone in your back pocket at any time.

Also one of my favorites is a law in Clemson referring to dogs: B!tches in heat shall be confined

The subcommittee will require a two month period to conduct further research of this proposed bill...it has also been determined that only Aruba can provide a sufficient work environment for this particular study.

Thanks taxpayers!

Might actually be a good idea. If they went to Aruba debating football, they couldn't screw up anything in Columbia! ;)

You know you've raised a real tiger fan when you ask your son what he wants his cub scout pinewood derby car to be and he says a Tiger!
