Brian kelly is a tool

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's great insight

Apr 18, 2012, 8:57 PM

Now go win 5 games and make the Irish proud!

It is unfortunate that Notre Dame Fighting Irish does not have the football history and tradition enjoyed by the Clemson Tigers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

its unfornatute that you dont have a football program

Apr 18, 2012, 9:08 PM

worth talking about, so you find yourself on tigernet in order to talk football

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Army has a better tradition than Clemson also

Apr 18, 2012, 10:24 PM [ in reply to Re: That's great insight ]

However, I am dang sure that Clemson would beat both of those teams like a drum.

They are no WVU

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

His argument doesn't hold much water...

Apr 19, 2012, 12:09 PM

Every team has a scrimmage as it is... In this case, you just wouldn't be facing your own guys. It would bring out much more intensity, bring much more fan interest, and drive much more revenue for the school.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Notre Dame has been better

Apr 18, 2012, 11:27 PM [ in reply to Re: That's great insight ]

at under-achieving considering that history. What's your point?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Does history include the last 20 years?

Apr 19, 2012, 3:25 AM [ in reply to Re: That's great insight ]

Cause I'm pretty sure Clemson hasn't achieved much in that time frame and would have still enjoyed a winning record against the irish.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you are slobbering all over the Irish too?

Haha, So does that mean he doesn't have a spring game?

Apr 18, 2012, 9:03 PM

Dabo is suggesting playing another team for their spring game, instead of an intrasquad spring game.

Brian Kelly response to that is he needs to teach skill development at practice...Is he saying he can't do that if they play the spring game against someone else? I mean, they play a spring game anyways, what's the difference?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Depends how teams treat the spring game

Apr 18, 2012, 9:38 PM

If the coaches focus on their team and player development, then there is no change to their planning.

However, if coaches practice schemes to beat a specific opponent, then it may not be as productive for overall development.

Imagine playing GaTech as your spring game opponent. I'm sure most coaches would prefer working on overall technique instead of worrying about a unique offense.

Re: Depends how teams treat the spring game

Apr 18, 2012, 11:45 PM

I think you also run much more of a risk of injury, too. I'd rather we hold 2-3 scrimmages in different parts of the state.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No more risk of injury at all. They would play a controled

Apr 18, 2012, 11:50 PM

scrimmage, same as all teams do in their spring game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: No more risk of injury at all. They would play a controled

Apr 18, 2012, 11:54 PM

We lost three guys to injury playing against ourselves. Playing another D1 team, controlled or not, emotions are more likely to be a factor, and players are more likely to get hurt.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

players get hurt in practice, the weight room, dorm room***

Maybe Kelly does not understand the question.....

Apr 18, 2012, 9:21 PM

Works for politicians....

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He should pray that we don't play this year

Apr 18, 2012, 10:17 PM

that is all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

who says he cant still teach?

Apr 18, 2012, 10:46 PM

he would actually be able to teach more details since only the offense/defense would be on the field at one time

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So...hitting each other in spring game teaches fundamentals

Apr 19, 2012, 7:43 AM

...but hitting guys from another school in the same spring game doesn't?

Heck, then just cancel the season and train your guys all year. Your school would be an NFL player machine!

badge-donor-20yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-revdodd.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

we don't need more practice,

Dabo is asking for one game. Why not?

don't agree with another game on the schedule at all

Apr 19, 2012, 3:07 PM

the spring is about player development. It's also about baseball and the other spring sports to have their season and focus. Another game against an opponent would also increase the chances of serious injuries which would impact the real season...it's just your nature to go harder against an opponent vs. your own team.

Re: don't agree with another game on the schedule at all

Apr 19, 2012, 9:19 PM

Yeah, it's a good thing those Spring Games don't cause serious injuries, just ask Tony McNeal. Fundamentals will need to be taught all the time, not just Spring; don't understand why playing someone else in the spring wouldn't be viable.
