This is a big deal, especially for a top 10 team. Right up there with Duke?

For sure. It's nice to see we've got a great group of guys in the locker room who are taking their academics seriously. It speaks volumes not only about the players, but also the character of the coaches and program as a whole.

I'm always a little suspicious how they calculate this since I saw one year Tenn was like the worst and graduated almost no one and then a year or two later they were suddenly right a t the top. Also I thought the whole thing was if you didnt achieve a standard you got dinged with scholarship losses.
I remember hoops teams losing scholarships but not football teams. Are they really enforcing this

see that was my recollection as well. dont tell me suddenly all the football teams just improved. also what about the junk like UNC tried to pull. how is there not an APR repercussion for out right blatent academic fraud

Not so with Bowl games. Therefore, the NCAA has no authority to enforce a post-season ban in football like they can in basketball.

The NCAA has given out numerous post season bans for football (not apr related) most recently cases like PSU OSU USC

well I thought the whole deal was loss of scholarships which they certainly can do but I guess they have more fun jumping some golfer who washed her car at a school instead

They don't "run" the bowl games in the way that the bowl committees do, but they certainly sanction those games. They don't exist without the NCAA blessing.
