Re: Football Update: Bourret on Maryland games- 78 game

I was there. It is still one of the best college games I've seen in person. Lead changes, long runs, long pass plays, blocked punts, lead changes- it had about everything.

I remember listening to Jim Phillips on the radio during

that game. Still miss his play by play.

An unusual play was Dale Hatcher's 2 yard punt in '82 game

Oct 25, 2013, 12:56 PM

at Maryland. Hatcher was one of only a couple of kickers
at the time (Ray Guy being the other) who had hit the
scoreboard at the top of the Superdome in New Orleans
with a kick. But it was extremely windy at Maryland in
'82 and kicking against the wind from the 22 in the 2nd
half, the ball was downed at the 24. Still remember Jim
Philips calling it in disbelief.
