a few plays.

I see nothing on the field that suggests a top 20 ranking.

Do voters even watch the teams they rank? Or do they just move them up 20 spaces because they "play in the SEC"?

Voters don't watch more than a couple games each Saturday

I would guess that outside of the 2-3 games that they actually watch, many of them likely just go by Wins and losses, opponent, and final score. Florida is highly ranked BC of their 5-1 record, not BC they have looked very impressive. They've only played 6 games so far BC of the bye week and rescheduled LSU game. Both UF and LSU will only play 11 games each for the regular season after each dropping a cupcake for their Week 12 makeup game.

and even the best teams (as we well know) can have very poor games. It's hard to take a snapshot of one game and accurately assess most teams.

The top teams play well in the majority of their games, but still play poorly in 2 or 3.
Most teams play like inconsistent garbage in the majority of their games, and well in 2 or 3.
The dregs may put together one magic Saturday per season.

That's the difference between conference champs and everybody else.
