Wasn't the so called Throat Slash after the play ?

Jan 4, 2014, 9:22 AM

Yet they said a personal foul is an AUTOMATIC first down, yet the personal foul on the late hit was not / Before you quote rules, one is the same as the other, it was 4th down and the play was over each time.

While I strongly disagree with the call on Beasley ... his "foul" was on 3rd down, bringing up 4th and a mile and would have forced OSU to punt.

The other play in question was on 4th down and the foul took place after technical "change of possession".

times in analysis of various penalties called on Clemson by the AAC crew last night. The Tigers have played pretty much remarkably penalty free, disciplined football all season long and even if one accepted all the calls by that refereeing crew, it was very out of character to say the least.

Even the video official was inconsistent.

What really bugged me was the inconsistency

of their linebacker did a full tackle and drove Boyd into the ground completely in the first quarter of the game. I thought that was questionable roughing the passer, but made a note that they let that fly. Then they called it on us in a crucial point of the game whenever there wasn't even a chance for Shuey (I think it was Shuey) when his feet were in the air to not drive the tackle into Miller.

There were so many atrocious calls.

What I don't get is the ruling that a personal foul

Jan 4, 2014, 12:21 PM [ in reply to Re: ... after the play ? ]

is an "automatic first down"? We had a tremendous sack, it would've been 4th & 20 maybe, so the 15 years DEAD BALL foul should've made it 4th & 5. Why do they get awarded an automatic first down and we do not?

Dawkins made a great tweet about it last night, I'll loosely quote him: you mean to tell me all this time if a team didn't get it on 4th down I could've cold cocked a cat and the flag wouldn't have been a real flag?

Don't get me started on the fact Beasley was just doing a Superman and not a double throat slash...

You are correct but one was on 3rd down, and one was on 4th down.

First down for a hand gesture...

That wasn't even the banned gesture.
