Two of the best recruits we have ever had! Ray Ray Nation is going to be so awesome as long as he stays healthy we will always have the threat that he could take the kickoff, punt or run to the Zone.

CJ was recruiting early on another great, thank you for sharing!

Go Tigers!!

Didn't Ray Ray wear 28 in high school?
Here's my plan. Ray Ray tears it up for three years. Could easily be a first rounder after his junior year. Decides to come back because he loves Clemson. Clemson let's him switch his jersey to 28 for his senior year. Thus we we put in place the Spiller Honor. For that one player each year (if we have one) who could have gone pro but chooses to stay, they get to wear 28.

I hope Mitch Hyatt doesn't move to RB to wear 28***

Clemson

If that's the case then what's the point of retiring a number?

Sep 3, 2015, 12:10 PM [ in reply to Feaster will probably get 28 when he enrolls*** ]

I know Feaster will be special but will he be CJ Spiller special? That's yet to be determined. CJ Spiller was the best RB to ever come through Clemson, I don't think we should give that number to someone just yet imo.

They probably promised Feaster #28

Sep 3, 2015, 12:46 PM

during his recruitment.
1. HS number
2. His favorite running back is Adrian Peterson
3. The numerous comparisons to CJ, a running back with that type of ability at Clemson screams #28.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

please guys, not meant as a flame..

Sep 3, 2015, 12:54 PM [ in reply to If that's the case then what's the point of retiring a number? ]

But CJ is top 5 as far as a pure running backs here at Clemson go. Remember he had trouble hitting the holes up until his senior year? He is however the biggest homerun threat at running back we have ever seen here. Not trying to deflate anything he did here, for he is the best ambassador we have, but there are 3 better pure running backs that I can think of just typing this. Andre Ellington, Terry Allen, and Raymond Preister. They weren't nearly the homerun threat, but were better pure running backs. Just a response to the last poster.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree totally....

Sep 3, 2015, 9:45 PM

Although there may be more than three. Spiller was definitely more dynamic in space with the ball though.

I've only watched Clemson football since the 1970's but Terry Allen is the best pure CU running back I've seen.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I personally don't think any number should truly be retired

Sep 3, 2015, 12:56 PM [ in reply to If that's the case then what's the point of retiring a number? ]

players whose numbers are retired are often forgotten a few generations later.

I think the model established with Steve Fuller/Deshaun Watson is the way to go. The number is worn but there is a patch honoring the person who first made that number special. The number isn't used every year, and in the years that it is used, it is only used by permission of the player who "owns" that number (or if he is deceased, his family).

Thousands of people learned last year that Steve Fuller was number 4 at Clemson, and the non Clemson fans would never have had any idea if the jersey had stayed retired.

It's just ridiculous how much faster Spiller was than

everyone else in HS. His HS highlights are hilarious.

For people who have watched Ray Ray's highlights, is he most comparable to Spiller? Or is he more like an Artavis Scott or Percy Harvin?

Is CJ standing on a milk crate?***
