Are there any really good prospects in the Anderson/Pickens/Greenville county area?

Aug 23, 2015, 5:51 PM

I know DE prospect from TL Hanna, but are there any really good ones playing in this area on Friday night? Want to try to see some in person this year

Not sure how heralded some of them are but I saw Westside play vs my hometown team Friday and they were fun to watch. Pretty good RB, a couple huge WRs and a good TE. Couple big lineman and their QB was a lefty and had a nice arm. Defense shut our triple option out too. Sad to see how bad it's gotten at home since I graduated but Friday night lights are fun regardless

I had heard that Westside was suppose to be good this year, they won a couple of passing camps this year I believe auburn was one.

The WR's are getting some D1 looks. May have to check them out, thanks

#84 I think it was. That kind was huge, had to be 6'4 or so. Really soft hands and fast. Tight end looked like he was in college. And they run the hurry up very impressively for a high school team. Definitely recommend it

Trey Pride is a 4 Star 2016 CB at Greer
Brad Johnson, DE at Pendleton is supposed to be a good 2017 prospect
Brent Venables' son Jake already has multiple offers and will be a sophomore LB at Daniel this year. Joey Batson's kids is supposed to be a pretty good QB for them as well.

And of course if you feel like driving to Spartanburg you can watch the #1 RB in the country in Tavien Feaster.

Definitely going to the Daniel BHP game this year, I forgot ab Coach Batson's son being the QB.

Who's gonna be Spartan High's biggest competition this year?

Feaster plays

At home against Gaffney Sept 11th, at home against Greenwood Sept 18th, at Byrnes Oct 2nd, and at home against Dorman Oct 9th. I plan on going to at least 2 of those games myself.

Some really great young talent up that way...

Aug 23, 2015, 6:47 PM

I know you gotta be excited about the return of some big time talent to the upstate. Plenty of excellent underclassmen prospects in Anderson and the surrounding area. As the season progresses, you're sure to become familiar with some of these names.

Right in your backyard you'll find Stephon Wynn Jr of TL Hanna High. You'll recall that his father was a Tiger from 1990 to 94'. The younger Wynn is a 6'4 230lb defensive end who continues to grow and is a two-time Eastbay All-American. Don't be surprised if he's one of the top prospects in his class before all is said and done. He was recently on hand for Dabo Swinney camp this summer and most consider Clemson the team to beat for his services. Keep in mind he's a part of the 2018 class so it's easy to understand why folks are so excited about the rising sophomore.

Here's some film of Stephon Wynn Jr

Make a short trip over to Powdersville and you'll get to see the stellar talent of another rising sophomore in E.J. Humphrey. The overall MVP for the NUC Youth AA Game, Humphrey dominated the game from start to finish going against some of the top talent in the nation. Not only did he take the first pass of the game for a score but he returned a kickoff 35 yards, scored on a 85 yd run, scored on a 42 yd run, and snagged an INT. If he continues to grow there's no limit to his potential because he certainly has all the intangibles.

Rarely will you see one player dominate a game the way Humphrey did in this highlight.

I'd also recommend making the drive over to Daniel High to check out a few other Clemson prospects. QB Ben Batson (6-0 175) is a name you may be familiar with as his father is coach for Tigers. He'll continue to progress and works with QB specialist Ramon Robinson. He's already gone on record saying that if he could pick any school he'd pick Clemson. Ben recently attended CDS camp this summer with teammate LB Jake Venables (6-1 190), who received an offer. Will Swinney also plays for the Lions.

If you're looking for another skill position player, head over to Byrnes and watch WR Demarcus Gregory. He didn't see much action last year because of injury but one can expect him to see plenty of action in his sophomore campaign. At 6-3 194, Gregory already has plenty of size to work with and could be the next star WR at Byrnes. "He’s probably ‘the next big thing’ out of Byrnes and that’s saying something at his age. Think a possible Sammy Watkins-type playmaker if he keeps progressing the rate he has and his doctors say he may end up in the 6-foot-4 to 6-foot-6 range before he’s done growing.” Kerry Fair.

Any info on the offensive tackle at Daniel? Thinking he may be our 4th linemen in this class.

Cade Stewart

He's a 6-4 280 lb OL who was on campus for Dabo Swinney camp this past summer. All indications are that he's well coached- another one of Jamo Wilson's boys so that's no surprise. His current offers include PC and Furman but that could change this season. Rivals currently gives him 3 stars.

if the Bentley's hadn't moved to Alabama. Jake Bentley is a 4 star 2017 Pro-Style QB by most services
