Feaster news- Week 11 High School Football notes

Nov 2, 2015, 3:07 PM

Spartanburg (RB commit Tavien Feaster) 56
Mauldin 33
***The Vikings (9-1 overall, 5-1 Region II-4A) played the first half without Shrine Bowl tailback Tavien Feaster, who sat out as a precaution because of a sore ankle. Feaster, who wears a brace on the shoulder he injured last year, played the second half and averaged 6.5 yards per carry on 10 carries.

“I’m going to have (shoulder) surgery some time in the end when I’m done playing football (this season),” he said. Mauldin scored on the game's first play on a 63-yard pass and it set the tone for the shootout. Quarterback Austin Scott didn’t tie his own state record from last week but came close as he threw eight touchdown passes. He was 38 of 53 for 492 yards.

Fort Myers (2017 RB Darian Felix) 56
@ Lee County 14

Felix had another outstanding performance as he rushed 5 times for 28 yards with two TDs along with two catches for 80 yards and a TD. He was also a factor in the return game and averaged 33.5 yards per kickoff return.

Scotland Co. (2018 RB Zamir White) 48
@ Lumberton 3

Scotland took control of the contest on its opening possession as Zamir White rushed for one of three first-quarter scores when he found the end zone from one yard out. He added touchdown runs of 41 yards and six yards before the quarter ended to give the Scots a commanding 21-0 advantage heading into the second. The Fighting Scots are now 10-0 on the year. Star RB Zamir White entered the game averaging over 8 yards per carry (1569 yds) and 30 TDs.

Jonesboro (QB commit Zerrick Cooper) 36
@ Pike County 3

Film of Cooper on Friday night- http://www.maxpreps.com/games/football-fall-15/jonesboro-vs-pike-county/10-30-2015-LpDKAnlZWkaQZKxfYmrL7A.htm
Following the Tigers huge win over Miami, Cooper had this to say, "It was a blowout, but really a great game,” Cooper said. “The offense was very explosive, and the defense was unstoppable and put up points.”

Opelika (2017 QB Jake Bentley) 44
Enterprise 27

Bentley was 7-for-11 passing with 222 yards and four touchdowns.
Check this play out- http://uproxx.com/sports/2015/10/surefire-interception-turned-touchdown-high-school-football/
Opelika High School (AL) was without a loss and going for their first unbeaten season since 2003 against Enterprise on Friday and, while they still probably would have won without this play (they ended up securing a comfortable 44-27 victory), there’s no arguing that luck was on their side. Opelika quarterback Jake Bentley went back to pass in the red zone, but his pass was thrown directly to a Enterprise defensive back who only had to hold on to a ball thrown right at him to secure an easy interception.

Instead, the Enterprise defender couldn’t hang on, and bobbled it as he was falling to the ground. This created a golden opportunity for Opelika wideout Jaleel Heard, who was running in to make the tackle but, instead, took full advantage of the Enterprise mistake and scooped the ball out of the air at the last second for the unlikely touchdown. Bentley (who has offers from Auburn, Stanford, and Clemson among others) has thrown for 23 touchdown passes thus far in his high school career, but I think it’s safe to assume that that was by far the weirdest.

Dudley (2017 QB Hendon Hooker) 35
Page (WR Diondre Overton) 7

Going into the game, Hooker has passed for more than 1,300 yards (13 TDs/2 INT) and rushed for over 800 yards with 10 TDs. n a much-anticipated Metro 4-A Conference football game between the teams tied for No. 2 in this week’s HSXtra Top 10, Dudley went back to basics and pulled away for a 35-7 win over Page on Friday night before a full house at J.A. Tarpley Stadium. Page’s only points came on a spectacular individual effort by wide receiver Diondre Overton. Facing 3rd-and-14 from the Dudley 20, the senior took a pass from Will Jones on the left sideline that was set up as a tunnel screen. But Overton spun back toward the sideline, leaving Dudley’s Brion Seagraves on the turf and sprinted for the score with 10:00 to play in the half as the Pirates tied the score.

Grayson (2017 QB Chase Brice) 50
Brookwood 10

Brice was a near-perfect 17-of-18 passing for 350 yards and five touchdowns

J.H. Rose (WR commit Cornell Powell) 76
C.B. Aycock 42

Powell had a 70 yard TD catch. After Clemson's huge victory over Miami last week, Powell had this to say, “It was just straight dominance. They showed why they are in the top four! The offense is unstoppable. They have a great leader at quarterback, and they’re clicking on all cylinders.”
Film- http://www.witn.com/sports/endzone/headlines/WEEK-11-Rose--CB-Aycock-338358422.html

Plant City (WR commit TJ Chase) 28

Chase had 13 tackles, a tackle for loss, pass break up, and a TD catch. Plant City had a 70-yard touchdown drive capped by a 16-yard touchdown pass from Corey King to Tavares Chase, giving the Raiders a two possession lead in the third quarter. Facing double and triple teams, Chase is averaging over 22 yards per reception to go with 44 tackles and two INTs.

Havelock (2017 RB/Ath Montrece Gatling) 40
Swansboro 10

Gatling entered the game with 7 rushing TDs, 14 tackles, and 9 pass break ups.

Hewitt-Trussville 25

Ty Pigrome did what Ty Pigrome usually does and Clay-Chalkville pulled away from Hewitt-Trussville with a 53-35 win in both teams’ regular season finale. Pigrome accounted for seven touchdowns, rushing for two and throwing for five. Four went to Alabama commit T.J. Simmons. Pigrome went 13-for-20 for 272 pass yards with 11 rushes for 127 yards.

Powdersville (2018 Ath EJ Humphrey) 6

Fort Dorchester (OL John Simpson/ 18' QB Dakereon Joyner) 45
Bluffton 6

The unbeaten Patriots came in with a 10-0 record and had no plans of going down. RB Datron James rushed for three touchdowns and Dakereon Joyner also had a hand in two scores.

Northgate (LB commit James Skalski) 21
Starr's Mill 7

The Vikings went into the game undefeated (9-0) while giving up less than 6 points per game. Junior scat back Ton Evans dipped, squirted and sprinted his way to more than 200 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Northgate held a 14-0 lead at the half on two touchdown runs by Evans. The first came on the second play of the game. After Evans raced 62 yards on the first play from scrimmage down to the Panther 16 yard line, he still had enough juice to sprint into the end zone on the next play.
