FFR, Clemson, the Almighty and logic

Apr 16, 2014, 12:16 PM

Lost in this brouhaha about the FFR folks and Clemson, I feel an important aspect has been overlooked.

The key issue isn't religion. It's about being neighborly. Let's look at this logically:

1. Given: Clemson is about as close to heaven as folks can get on Earth.

2. Given: The Almighty resides in heaven.

3. Given: People at Clemson and the Almighty are, therefore neighbors.

4. Given: In the South (don't know how things are done up in Wisconsin, where the FFR folks reside) neighbors speak to one another

5: Given: To refrain from talking to neighbors is a grievous lack of proper upbringing in the South ... one could even say a sin.

Therefore: Clemson folks talk to the Almighty as a matter of proper etiquette, not religion. In fact, to NOT address the Almighty would, given the situation, be a sin ... and sin infers religion, which would be a violation of church and state. So, only by talking with God can Clemson folks avoid the exact situation the FFR folks wish for us to avoid.

6. Conclusion: Having a daily relation with God is the only way we at Clemson can avoid doing what the FFR folks wish ... mix religion with life at the university.

Glad we could help.
