FELLOW CLEMSON FRIENDS....Say what you want

Oct 21, 2012, 8:21 AM

about our conference, our schedule, our coach, our team or our fans, but I'll say this: in all the nearly 50 years of my devotion to Clemson and the Clemson family my pride literally brought this older grad to tears yesterday, when I saw over 80,000 people standing, clapping and cheering to the top of their voices when Daniel led our men down The Hill with Old Glory waving mightily for all of America to see! D@mn...I am proud of Clemson and our family....

Socialist, but I don't want to you waste your evening fruitlessly scouring the Internet for Hannity quotes. All I say is that you're not patriotic AT ALL if you boo the President of the United States on a day in which we were supposed to be honoring America's military. There's nothing you can say to refute that. How would you feel had the members of the audience who are upset we're still in Afghanistan booed those members of the military who were introduced?

C'mon--you don't have a patriotic bone in your body if you think what happened yesterday was some sort of exercise in free speech.

If his long list of associates with Socialist ties and

What I think about the boos is irrelevant.......but we do live in a free country. We are afford that freedom no matter how distasteful it may be in some peoples opionion. and the soldiers weren't booed. The liberals changed their tacktics toward soldiers in unpoplar wars.

far from an Obama supporter. I'm not voting for him in the upcoming election. However, the same tired argument calling him a socialist is ridiculous and untrue. The Socialist Party of America certainly doesn't claim him as one of their own. They are on the record saying that he is far too moderate and to the extreme right of their party platform.

Just because Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck said it on talk radio doesn't make it true. It's certainly not very American to be a socialist, but calling someone something that is blatantly false doesn't make your argument any stronger. It's okay to be critical of a politician. It's not okay to make up lies and baseless classifications in order to do that.

Fascism is a right wing ideology. It is the complete opposite of socialism on the political spectrum. A fascist oligarchy is what left wing extremists accused Reagan of trying to turn America into in the 1980's. That is completely different from Obama.

You let the fact that Obama promotes socialized medicine equate to him being a socialist.

Re: Guilt by association......the law uses that one all the time***

Oct 21, 2012, 6:40 PM

Just because you associate with someone doesn't make you guilty of the same things that they are. The law sometimes considers the hand of one to be the hand of all. But that is only in circumstances where someone is in some way aiding the person committing the crime in their criminal activity. If I have someone in my family that is a criminal and I have Thanksgiving dinner with them, that doesn't make me a criminal. Also, if someone who is a member of my church uses marijuana regularly, I'm also not guilty of any crime.

President Bush had business ties to the Bin Laden family. I know that Bin Laden's family cut ties with Osama decades ago. However, if people are guitly by association, then the Bin Laden family is guilty of terrorism. By the transitive property, does that make President Bush a terrorist?

Oct 21, 2012, 6:03 PM [ in reply to Re: So you think Obama gets a fair shake in the South? You ]

You think President Bush got unfairly criticized because of his color in the same way that Obama is criticized for his? That's crazy. The amount of racism toward white people is no where near the level of racism toward black people. Even if the percentage of people of other races who criticize were the same, the total amount of racism would never be the same because white people make up the vast majority of the population.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Really?

Oct 21, 2012, 6:09 PM

no, he probably wasn't criticized, as much, what i am saying is that some people of all races discriminate, not just whites. but all i hear is if you don't like obama, it's not because of his policies,it's because of his color, and that is total b.s..

It's not naive at all. When 97% of a demographic votes the same way when historical voting shows a different voting tendency for that demographic, and when all other demographics voting in that same election were much closer to a 50/50 or 60/40 split, it suggests that racism is strong.

Correction - naive to suggest that those racists DIDN'T vote for him because and only because he's black. Funny how those folks get a pass for that racism, despite how catastrophic it is for our nation.
