Okay, I am not a gambler so tell me, is 4-1 better than 5-2? In my ignorant splendor, I'd say yes but I am not sure.

5-2 is better odds than 4-1.***

But 4-1 has a better pay out than 5-2...

So yes 4-1 is a better bet since I believe we would beat either Alabama or Ohio State!

No 5-2 is a higher favorite.

Think in percentages instead. 4-1 is 25% while 5-2 is 40%. Obviously that's not how odds pay, but it's an easy way to figure out who has better odds.

If you want to compare the two it would be 8-2 vs 5-2.

No. You have to multiply our 4-1 by 2 to compare. So, we're 8-2 vs. 5-2. hth

Sorry, no. Divide the 5 by the 2 or the 4 by the 1 to get your 'percentage'... thus they have a 40% chance, ours is only 25%.

:(

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And if you actually add up the %s you will see that they

Nov 9, 2015, 10:09 AM [ in reply to Re: FB Update: National Championship Odds for Clemson ]

come out to way over 100% which is just another form of Vegas screwing everyone in the pooch. Bama + OSU + Clemson = 105% alone before you add in everyone else.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

so can you bet against them winning on each one and come out

Nov 9, 2015, 10:13 AM

ahead? or do they not let you bet with the house, ha.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually, all add up to 101.6%

Nov 9, 2015, 4:13 PM [ in reply to And if you actually add up the %s you will see that they ]

5/2 = 28.6%
5/2 = 28.6%
4/1 = 20%
12/1 = 7.7%
15/1 = 6.3%
18/1 = 5.3%
18/1 = 5.3%
Total = 101.6%

I am probably wrong, but I look at this way.

Nov 9, 2015, 10:37 AM [ in reply to Re: FB Update: National Championship Odds for Clemson ]

Clemson has a 1 in 4 chance (25%)

The over-hyped, pimped-up contenders have a 2 in 5 chance (40%)

So ...
