We need good DEs next year, and Byers has played a little bit

I wouldn't be surprised if he moves back, it's probably more of a depth concern right now. Remember when Humphries was cross training with the DBs because of lack of depth in late 2012?

If he doesn't then Austin Bryant just avoided RS next year to provide depth... Good thing he looks like he could be an instant contributor size wise.

I imagine it's only temporary though.. Gore and Guillermo will be back soon, and then next year you can add an much more experienced Crowder to the mix and a healthy Oliver Jones who Dabo said was ready to contribute this year. And then of course, are star studded OL recruiting class. Depth should be much less of an issue next year, and Byers should be able to move back.

Also, Mavrick Morris keeps getting his name mentioned. Dabo says he's not quite ready, but he gives him enough mention to indicate that they think he can be a player. I hope so. He comes from a very good family with a strong work ethic.

Byers hasn't played DE in 2 seasons. He was moved to DT a couple seasons ago.

He is an ol now. Prob not talented enough to play dl but he is a super talented ol. Wish they would have said if he is an og or ot.

how in the world do you know how talented he is on the OL since he has never played the position?

Sounds like he wanted to make this move

In that case, I'm all for it. The last thing you want is to put players on the field who aren't confident in their abilities or positions.

Agree. He just wants to play and this gives him that.

He will go back to D if that is what he wants. He is too talented not to make sure he is happy.

I assume he is not. He was just told he has to take the last stop on the train. He was moved from De to dt because he wasn't talented enough now from dt to ot. That's the last stop on the train. But that's where he is. He is getting paid to go to school it really doesn't matter what he wants it's were he can help the team/school the most. This may sound harsh to young people but that's the world we live in.

That being said I think he will make a fine OT. Maybe even start some in his career.

I'm assuming since he's still with the team (see Shaq Anthony) that he is willing to go along with it on some level. He said if he really doesn't like it/doesn't work out he can move back.

Anybody know how current this weigh-in is? He should move to OL if he's at 284.
