That play develops way too slowly to call it when your QB will be in the endzone.

Hence the need to keep your head on a swivel and not have a long developing play that puts you in your own EZ

With a dropback into the endzone with a formation that would allow any free running blitz from either side.

But definitely not without keeping an eye on that side.

Calling RPO in their own end zone kept the QB looking the opposite way for the run, then his first route read. OU got in the perfect at the perfect time on that.
