3rd/4th and less than a yard to go...

Nov 2, 2020, 10:14 AM

with a 7 foot 300 lb QB who eats fire for breakfast .

. Snap ball, fall forward. 1st down.

Works in tecmo bowl. Should work on the field.

!st string QB is out for 2 games minimum

I think the coaches wanted to keep the hits on him to a minimum.

I'm still not sure what we are doing on the 3rd and inches

at the goal line where we fumbled. That play took forever to develop an it looked like we had a pulling guard coming across and all. I know this OL isn't really capable of blowing an opposing defense off the ball down at the goal line, but i don't think asking them to hold blocks for several seconds is a good idea either.

I like the idea of letting the 250 lb QB bulldoze his own way in. Hopefully the shoulder is good enough they can take the training wheels off Saturday.

When we have been in that formation on short yardage before, the person in Pinckney's position almost always comes in motion to the play side.

I'm betting DJ forgot to motion him over. Then Pinckney still tried to get to that side and ran through the hand off mesh-point.

I'm not sure if that threw off the exchange or what but ETN didn't look prepared to get the ball and DJ didn't do a very good job of securing it when he saw that ETN wasn't ready.

I think that was the biggest "rookie mistake" DJ made during the game, but it was a hidden mistake because nobody really knows what caused the mix-up.

Exactly right...

and then DJ handed the ball off in ETN's chest and neck area.

That turnover was entirely on DJ.

No doubt it was a poor handoff***

That was my initial thought about the poor hand-off location, but after seeing a few more replays it seems like DJ had the ball in a good spot to start with but when ETN through his hands up at the last second DJ didn't react well and tried to force the ball into his hands.

It's so hard to tell chicken or egg on a split second play, but ETN certainly didn't have his normal arm position for taking a hand-off either.

It was a tough play that made the game feel like a historic comeback instead of a 3 score victory.
