Kind of concerning that he hasn't already had one

He seems like a good candidate and deserves at least an interview. Looks like Dabo has made up his mind.

I hope that Dabo has not made up is mind about hiring Venables without even interviewing Shannon. If this happens, we need to change Dabo name to Dumbo. He can also sign his death certificate as a coach if he makes the wrong decision. Go Shannon!

show cause...

I haven't seen anywhere that this has been threatened overtly, just a whispered question...if he was hit with it post hire, would that punishment come to us as a current employer, or is it a matter of, like Tressel, "you can hire him, but...."

Shannon isn't being investigated, he was the one who blew the whistle and he was cleared by the ncaa. It would be a great hire.

Unfortunately we are going to get stuck with a coach who the past two years ranked 53 and 55th in total defense. Not much of a upgrade IMO.

Look at his stats when he was the DC

Consistently had top ten defenses save for one year. Also look at BV's stats. His D is also hovering around that 50 mark nationally.

We need a good coach, not just a good name. Would this really be a good hire?

a good hire looking at his stats when he was JUST the DC at Miami. I also think "his story" as a person can really relate with a lot of potential players. I am not one who likes to see heart strings pulled but a great role model is a quality that i personally like to see in a coach. someone that players and kids can look up to. it isn't a necessity but if you have the option why not go with it?

Which many others can't. I think we would be stupid to pass on him. Dabo should at least seriously entertain the possibility of hiring Shannon.

During Shannon's six years as UM's defensive coordinator, his defenses ranked as follows in total defense nationally:
2001 – 6th 2002 – 7th 2003 – 2nd 2004 – 28th 2005 – 4th 2006 – 7th
