Allen, Spiller, Davis, McDowell... Role Models?

Oct 29, 2013, 9:49 AM

All four of these players are now thought of as great representations of Clemson football and role models for what players can do if they work hard and stick with it. The other thing these four guys have in common is that at some point in their careers they had issues with not being completely devoted to the team and to practice because they were not happy with their own situation.
Also Jayron Kearse basically said the same thing as Leggett early in the year. He said he was still learning to practice at a higher level because he wasn't ready when he got here to keep up with all of the guys who have been here. The only reason everyone is freaking out this time is because Leggett used the word lazy to describe it.
If players weren't having this problem there would be an issue with our program. The fact that freshmen are having to learn how to practice in the program means our coaches are doing things the right way to get better and be successful.
The injury most likely kept Leggett from learning this earlier in the season because he was not in the mix at practice for quite a while.

good post. that makes what sammy and justin miller did even more impressive. arguably the best player on their respective teams from day one.

Exactly...

and even with Sammy we saw that it is hard to maintain that level of focus at a young age. He had some learning and growing up to do also.

He was always "All In"

But to be fair he has only played one game to date. Let's see how firm he stays if he shows up anymore.
