point of no return. We need Trump out of office. No matter if you like him or hate him, he is dividing us all at an alarming rate. We shouldn’t be allowing it or him that far into our minds, but he is and it is what it is at this point.

I wouldn’t mind a quiet and do nothing President for 4 years as both parties and America hits the reset button. I feel like even if you took twitter away from Trump, he still would be hated with the fire of 5000 burning suns, instead of 10000 now.

Let’s get this election over with and then pave the way for Nikki Haley to be the first female President.

nobody is taking your guns, it is a non issue with most democrats outside of enhanced background checks and getting rid of straw purchases. Believe it or not liberals like their guns too. If you poll both parties they are pretty similar.

And for progressives the gun debate is small potatoes compared to climate change and banking and campaign fiance reform.

you just have to ask yourself, would they have treated an elderly white guy like this? If your answer is no, then you are making the argument that this could be charged as a federal hate crime.

And putting these guys behind bars in a federal prison would send the message loud and clear to law enforcement that this kind of thing will not be tolerated under this administration.

I thought it was interesting in an interview I saw this morning.

He asked the question, how long do you keep your knee on someone's neck, after they are unconscious, before you show intent to hurt them?

That being said, the worst thing that could happen to this country right now is rushing into something to calm down the masses, that allows a door to open where justice isn't served.

What you're stating is a prime example of how this culture of cops and the local DA and the local coroner work to suppress the narrative as time passes. It's systemic to almost any LEO prosecution, not to mention the pressure from their union.

T3Tiger said:

Except that’s not how the criminal justice system works. Mob rule doesn’t determine outcomes. They’ve already said the guy that did it was charged in record time. Now they’re saying that’s not good enough. There has been exculpatory evidence that didn’t lead to a murder charge. The autopsy said he wasn’t strangled. I’ll be interested to see what the family’s expert says.

The family attorney today was saying that the guy should be charged with 1st degree. That’s a recipe for the guy to go free. There’s no way they can prove they premeditated this. Similarly, Barr can’t just assume hate crime because Floyd was black and the cops were white. The overwhelming majority of people killed by cops are white. Blacks are only about 25%.

The best thing to do is to have an accurate investigation and get the correct charges and a conviction. In the meantime, people doing illegal things during the protests is only hurting the cause.

No my friend, he was not "charged in record time" anyone else would have been taken into custody immediately. The video is enough probable cause to hold anyone pending an investigation. He was fired, that's all. Then, a week later he was charged, the other 3 cops are still untouched. That, on it's face, is a biased judicial system. What do you think they would do if they found you with your knee on a man's neck while he pleads that he can't breathe? They would detain you immediately and justifiably so. The "mob" came about after the fact, not before.

The default position of Trump supporters is ignore the victims. Find ways to undermine their claims and sweep it all under the rug. That's not going to work this time. The country is in grave crisis, and the extreme-right is exposed for what it is. Petty, bigoted and unconcerned for the real future of our country. They are uncompromising in their belief that Trump is a great President because he says sh*t they like. We're going into a depression, 41 million Americans are unemployed and thousands of business are gone. Meanwhile, the emperor in chief scream about Antifa, rather than addressing the country in a calm and responsible manner. His Presidency is over. That's it. Wise men are willing to be wrong and willing to change their position as circumstances change. Wise men.

My friend, our country is crumbling before our very eyes because of Trump's self-obsession and incompetence. To continue to support this failure as a leader is merely an adherence to a fantasy that never became real. Trump is not good for America and never has been. We can argue about the peripheral wrongs in our society and that is fine by me. But we can do that, while at the same time acknowledging the total failure of this President and his uber-wealthy cabinet. His Presidency is over and America has to pay the price. The country that we all claim to love is not a place, it's people. Black, white, brown, yellow or red. It's people that make America, America.

How do you know it’s a hate crime? How do you know the cop is racist?
FTR: what he did was horrific and he should be charged, but I haven’t seen anything that makes it a hate crime YET.

Or do you just want this cop burned to apiece the rioters?

Eh. I don’t like Trump and would like to see him voted out,

May 31, 2020, 2:09 PM

but he doesn’t own all of the stuff that happened this week. He hasn’t done anything to help race relations besides claiming full credit for an economy that was already humming when he took office, which lowered unemployment in every demographic. He gets and deserves some of the economic credit—not all of it, like he’s trying to take. As near as I can tell, that’s the only check mark in the positive column if I’m black. His subtle (and some not so subtle) racist undertones have undoubtedly emboldened supremacists and nationalist groups.

Anyway, whatever, vote him out, cool. But this country has been racially divided long before Trump.

What you are suggesting is a return to the time that we, who disagree on many policy issues, could sit and debate our difference over a cup of coffee and then shake hands. Wise men change their positions as circumstances change. I applaud your wisdom and do agree with your desire to return to the America we grew up with. I'm tired of insanity, division, and discontent. This is not our America. As my son would often say when he was 8 and was made to sit still in church, "I want to go home."
