Ed Cunningham paradox

I know Ed Cunningham never engendered a lot of affection from Tiger Nation.
That said, I would think his reason for departure does cause some concern for the Boys in Bristol. ESPN/Disney likes to fancy themselves as a moral do-gooder, and likes to be on the snowflake side of whatever political issue. But now we have EC pretty much calling them out and saying they are a knowing party to the future injury of many participants in their marquee sport.
Maybe football does in fact contribute directly to brain injury. Maybe it doesn't. But the reality is 99% of football participants (both players and coaches) would have no hope of a lucrative income were it not for football.
So, let's say it is a gladiator sport. So be it. Even so, these guys have no other real choice if they hope for the lifestyle that football $$ affords. As they say, nobody's putting a gun to their heads.
What say you?

wouldn't have a hope of a lucrative income without football? I'd say that's pretty ignorant.

What would they otherwise be doing? By lucrative, I'm talking at least NFL minimum money. Do you think Dabo would be making 8 big ones brokering real estate?

Wait, so you're arbitrarily defining a lucrative salary as

the NFL minimum, which is somewhere around $465,000? How many college football players have a legitimate shot of getting into the NFL? There are lots of professions where people can make money without being an athlete...to say 99% of football players would have no hope is ridiculous

$465,000 a year puts one in the "1 percenter" category.

As in the top 1% of all income earners in the United States. I don't think most of these players and coaches would be making that kind of money if they weren't involved in football. Sure, some might, but the chances are slim.
Most of the football coaches were physical education majors in college. Do you know how much the average P.E. teacher in the United States makes a year? About 10% of the NFL minimum salary.
And let's be honest, many (if not most) college football players would not even be in college if not for their football skills. And those who did still go to college probably wouldn't be majoring in something which provided them a good opportunity to make $465,000+ a year.

Your math is interesting at best... but let it stand and answer this, what percentage of college football players ever make league minimum money at any point in their lives? Do you know that chances a D1 scholarship player has of making a roster?
