For the LSU Lurkers...question on the use of -eaux.
Jan 6, 2020, 9:53 PM

I will likely be watching the game with a LSU fan (although not grad) while on business travel. I'd like to be in the kneaux on -eaux, so I can communicate properly during the game.
If, by chance, some divine intervention occurs and Clemson somehow scores, is the correct response: Oh no!, Oh neaux!, or Eaux Neaux?
Does it depend on severity? Like Clemson scoring 3 is Oh no!, 7 is Oh Neaux! and 20 is Eaux Neaux!?
Or, does it depend on the surprise factor? Like a long field goal would be oh no, while a TL passing TD would be Eaux Neaux?
Does an -eaux guide exist in case other confounding situations arise?
TIA

The difference is between a fan and an alum. You don’t need to have graduated.

Any time spent at Clemson isn’t wasted.

My apologizes for the "fan" thing. I will be watching the game with someone wearing purple and yelleaux (I don't think that's a correct usage, but I haven't gotten any help yet) that will be very sad if Clemson has a successful play or two during the game. I just wanted to be polite and to be able to properly express concern for their plight.

The easiest and most socially check would be to state; "Eaux Merde" the "e" at the end of merde is silent.
Good luck with the game!!

Thanks for the well wishes! However, merde is an actual French word. Are you sure it will be understand by someone from N'Orlense?

Yes, most of us understand french phrases, some speak it fluently, Cajuns came here just speaking french, the carpet baggers tried to outlaw it, but it still persists! When you meet someone from here greet them by saying "Cmon sa vah" which is cajun for how ya doing.
