Explain how NC State 9-9, Clemson 10-8 and Clemson beat
Mar 16, 2014, 6:25 PM
|

NC State by 17, but State gets into the tourn. and Clemson doesn't even get into the discussion? There was a stretch this year where State lost two or three in a row by 25 or 30 points.

So I guess Pitt gets in?

I still think we deserve to be in. We got hosed by Duke and jobed during the Pitt game. It's hard to swallow knowing that those two calls will alter our season. I know we're better than NCSU. So do you.

UMass, Arkansas, and Auburn - win 2 out of 3

and we were likely in regardless of Pitt or Duke. Or even win one of them (Auburn) and win at Wake, and we were likely in. In the Pitt and Duke games, we were swinging for the bleachers. It didn't have to be that way, but we were very, very green in November and December when we lost those three OOC games...

i think the selection process is highly FLAWED. I senior laden team like UMASS is going to be better than a young team like Clemson in December. They should be. The process doesn't allow for IMPROVEMENT. We couldn't schedule tough early, cause we simply were not ready.
Would love to play them ######## now.

course, a friend of mine and I thought at the time, that we would not win 5...F I V E..ACC games at the time. This team showed as much spunk as any Clemson team in any sport that I can ever remember.

I beleive I counted them right

Our 3 NCAA tournament team wins:
Duke (home), NC State (home, bubble team), Coastal (home, mid-major)
Their 3 wins:
Cuse (neutral site), Pitt (road), Tennessee (OOC road, bubble)
Their list is better than ours and probably what put them over the top. Our OOC killed any chance.

That is one argument.
NC State's argument would be a much harder ACC schedule since (with tourney) they played Duke, UNC, Pitt, & Cuse twice and UVA one going 2-7.
Clemson played Duke & Pitt twice and UVA, Cuse, and UNC once going 1-6.
Their OOC and better wins (note all of ours are home and their are road and neutral) than ours trumped a head-to-head to the committee.

We had too many bad losses- Wake and ND were on the road, but bad conference losses none the less. Now, beat Pitt or UVA in Littlejohn and I think we'd be in. OOC schedule is another story- UMASS and Coastal made it and we played two SEC teams on the road- so we at least tried to schedule power conference teams. Didn't get a shot to play a Big 10 team this season. State had a few more wins over better teams than we did. Other than beating Duke, we had no Top 50 wins.

And I think they should take into account improvement over the season...and losses that we should have won over Pitt and Duke!
