This is in terms of NFL future more than overall performance. Boyd is number 8:
8. Tajh Boyd, Jr., Clemson Tigers
Boyd got "fat and happy" in 2011, according to coach Dabo Swinney, when I asked him to contrast his junior quarterback from last season to this season. Quite literally, Boyd put on extra pounds a season ago and it affected his agility and ability. This season, the ACC Player of the Year finished strong, to the tune of 10 wins and the fourth-best passer rating in the nation. Boyd's 492 rushing yards more than doubled his output from '11, and his nine rushing touchdowns paired with 34 passing touchdowns produced a breakthrough season that makes him a sure-fire Heisman candidate next fall.
Boyd, like Bridgewater, will benefit tremendously in 2013 if team stability reigns supreme, in particular if offensive coordinator Chad Morris sticks around and WR DeAndre Hopkins returns for his senior season. Further, the nation's ninth-best total offense and sixth-highest scoring unit will have one more marquee matchup with LSU in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl to bounce back from its season-ending loss to rival South Carolina.
Boyd has submitted his name to the NFL for projected draft standing, and the junior from Hampton, Va., may indeed have a decision to entertain: return to Clemson for a shot at shattering school records and win the ACC for a second time, or cast his lot in a league that is currently looking very favorably on dual-threat quarterbacks who elevate the play of those around them. What the NFL should study and take a close look at is the production of Boyd on third down, where his ability to extend plays and create on his own enabled the Tigers to finish fourth in the Football Bowl Subdivision in third-down conversion percentage.
nice info on Boyd. Hope he comes back but wont be upset if not. He has done well at Clemson and helped us alot and we would all be singing Tajh Boyd as best Clemson ever prob if he could just beat USuC.
