Starting RB 2013? Howard? McDowell? Brooks or Inc. Freshman

Sep 10, 2012, 11:19 AM

Thoughts? Personally, we haven't seen enough of brooks to say one way or another, McDowell and Howard are both good RBs but not nearly as good as Ellington in his Sophomore/Junior years.

Are Dye and Gallman good enough to win starting job right away? I doubt it, I see Howard being our starting RB in 2013

Howard, Brooks, and Dye will be in the mix until one of them pulls away as the clear starter. I think Howard is a very good #2. McDowell is a good player but it seems like he always underachieves, except for his long run on Saturday. He could be a good option as like a third down back but he isn't very big and I don't know if he could handle a #1 workload. Tyshon Dye is going to be a stud and he will get touches from day one I think. Just my opinion though.

I'm think McDowell but it's really too early to tell***

Keep the name Elijah Hood in your mind as the recruiting season continues. This junior running back from Charlotte Catholic is the next D. Summers, or better. Already has a Clemson offer. Hope he is wise enough to see his real future.

Meant Lattimore, not Summers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm pretty sure DJ Howard will be #1 going into fall camp

Sep 10, 2012, 11:35 AM

but after that it will be wide open. The young 'uns may get some pt early on, but I'd be surprised if DJ doesn't start the first few games.

Bellamy-Out on a limb but I say the kid gets it together...

Sep 10, 2012, 11:46 AM

I say Mike Bellamy gets it together and Clemson welcomes him back with open arms. I'd love to see that happen.

If I read correctly he already left another team in the south ? small team in Mississippi and is play in ? New Mexico ? not sure what that guy is thinking. Don't seem him working out.

Personally, I do not think there is any way we ever see Mike Bellamy in a Clemson uniform again.

He's got a ton of growing up to do, and he's going to have to do it with some other else's scholarship.

If his experience after leaving Clemson is any indication, he's going to have a tough time getting through JUCO, never mind landing an offer at another D-1 program.

Sad, but time to move along.

Article in Greenville News about him today. Sounds like he.

Sep 10, 2012, 12:01 PM [ in reply to Re Bellamy: ]

There was an article about him in the Greenville News today. It sounds like he is beginning to understand all that Clemson had to offer him. I think it works out.

From the article:
Would he come back to Clemson?

“You think Coach Swinney wants me back?” Bellamy said, punctuating the sentence with a laugh. “I sure don’t know what’s going to happen but if I do what I need to do, I hope in December there will be a line of people interested.”

I was not all that impressed with Brooks the other day but that being said hopefully he will get bigger and stronger and once he is running behind the first team OL he will be much improved
