Seems Athletes smartly realize our addiction to our sports hobbies & using leverage.

This isn’t gonna end well I’m afraid. I’m cutting back on tv viewership as well as a few in-game experiences including visiting my beloved Clemson.
Nothing against our & other student/athletes or even the pros with their peaceful protest thru images, words or kneeling during America’s National Anthem..
but luckily OUR Constitution that has been saved for all these years by men & women fighting to defend her under that ole Flag..
offers me the same wonderful right to peacefully make a personal decision not to be hi-jacked when I want to watch or attend my favorite sport..
Without Poiltics!

Pfft... for like 4 weeks straight I had to watch

few seconds of Michele Obama's pod cast promotion every time I wanted to watch a one direction video on you tube.
I don't have any intention in subscribing to any podcast from any2.. there is enough content on Netflix, amazon prime, and pron sites to keep me entertained.
Every 1 has the right to use their voice.. you don't have to listen.

Personally I don’t see people giving up sports because they have different opinions as the players. We shall see. I know that I will not.

Another will join. Cut 1 head off , 3 will grow.
Then again.. I ..dunno why the NBA ...and MLB are struggling. With the absence of sports for so long I figured people would consume anything they could.
Wasn't enough to get me interested but I figured others would.

I won't give up sports for the same reasons I won't give up music or movies - I could not be less interested in anything any of them have to say, ever. I don't know why people expect a guy who happens to be 6'4" and runs a 4.4. 40 has any special insight on anything. I don't understand why anyone would take cues from them on any topic outside of their specialty - sports, music, acting, etc. Run fast, catch the ball, make tackles...that's where my expectations end. Hit the mute button as necessary and enjoy the games.

I was thinking the same thing about our president

Why vote for or follow someone whose best business accomplishment was a being tv star. Trust me, one of the members of my church was an executive of a major bank in NYC and said that everyone in the business/banking world knew Trump was poor at it. Also said that he had a hard time getting loans and keeping revenue outside of bankruptcy claims. That’s government/court protection for a failed business. He also has 26 counts of rape charges waiting in court for him- right now. But I’m sure all 26 are CNN’s fault and the Democrats scheming. . But anyway- why would or did most people vote for this man to run our country? Cause many of you believed he had something to say regardless of his resume. He was just the least scary among the candidates is what I am often told. These athletes are not inferior because they are athletes. They may have something to say and add. Try listening.

Now imagine if athletes all had vote trump stickers on their helmets, jerseys, shoes.. trump plastered on the court in the stands... and on every other commercial on tv ..
Imagine if you were labeled a rassist everytime you mentioned that trump stickers don't belong on uniforms.

We're past the point of accomplishment mattering for the Presidency. Obama one a one-term Senator with very little in the way of accomplishment. What he had was charisma and that was enough. Trump has zero charisma but still speaks to people in a way which resonates. I suspect most votes for Trump were less about love for him and more because people think was better for the country than Hillary was or Biden will be. A sentiment I agree with. That said, I don't look to Donald Trump for cues about life anymore than I seek LaBron James' opinion on anything. The are entitled to think and say what they choose. Like most people on TV they are either 1) ill informed or 2) coming from a particular narrative, and not about to let facts interfere with their opinion.

Yeah and Obama and Biden have such impressive records as job creators in private industry...Biden had a real job for about 2-3 years. Obama - never.
Pathetic take on your part. Pathetic.

Yep, this stuff is easy to overlook and just enjoy the game. Stickers on helmets/ a sj comment or 2 by the announcers? If that's distracting you from the game, then it's because you were LOOKING for this type of stuff from the outset of the game. Quit inundating yourselves in sjw / anti-sjw media all the time and you won't be so sensitive to every little thing.

Due to OUR condition sports are not controlled by government

We are not socialist- remember? Watching sports without what the teams, league and channel wants is not a constitutional right. I can’t go into your company or business and say you can’t sell what you want the way you want because of the constitution unless it’s illegal. Have you read the constitution about the state not controlling private companies and associations?

losing customers. Those overpaid idiots don't understand long term economics so I want to explain it to you since it's obvious that you fit that description as well. I'm going to use a simple explanation without dragging you through economic charts and graphs predicting future economic expectations, OK?
You can milk a cow for years but you can only eat it once.
If that doesn't make sense to you ask a fifth grader to explain it to you.

I think most folks look at sports as a welcome distraction
Sep 15, 2020, 11:35 AM

from the world of politics and every day pressures. People will tune into sports as long as it is entertaining/fun for them. When sports is no longer fun/entertaining for the individual they will go on to something else. It is a shame that everything has to be destroyed with political poison but that is the environment we live in now.
COVID-19 taught me that I really don't miss most sports - got plenty of other things to do to occupy my time. I'm pretty much done with all sports except College football. I imagine I'm not the only who found that they can live without sports rather easily and have elected to tune out...

Agree. I was down to only college football and maybe playoff hockey.
But, if you start to open the aperture and do other things, it's actually good and healthy.
I will try to wean off CFB this year. Can also get out of hefty cable payments just to get liberal fcking ESPN.

Every decision we make is based on choice and that choice is based on factors as varied as the weather. Just because someone else's choice is different from our own does not make them an idiot. One of the things I have noticed is how we attempt to charge one as being a racist over a remark that has no merit whatsoever as an indication of racism. We don't have the ability to look within the hearts of others to determine their true character when our only contact is a post an internet board.
