No one else is leaving, UMD is following the UA dollars because they are broke and about to shut down their athletic department.

neither did maryland right?

bryant, fsu's athletic department might not be able to write a $50 million check out of their petty cash or cash-on-hand funds, but the university is not without resources.
maryland will likely use their 'no' from the buyout vote as leverage; fsu could do the same.
i doubt maryland ends up paying $50 million and if they do, they no doubt have the ability to 'pay themselves back' and have the financials in support of that promise.

I agree.

The ACC now has to make two good plays:
1- Play hardball with Maryland's $50M buyout. If they pay up, that'll surely make FSU think twice.
2- Go out and get Louisville. FSU will NOT like the addition of S. Florida (recruiting) or UConn.
If they can navigate these two issues the right way, I think FSU might just stick around.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why anyone is wanting to stay in the ACC. By adding Pitt, Cuse, and Cincinnati/USF/UCONN, we have basically become the Big East. Look at how the BCS is treating us this year because of our schedule. We lost to the #4 team in the country (at the time) at their place, and won all of the games since then on our schedule and can't even crack the BCS top 10. I don't see this conference getting better any time soon.

They will wait to see what MD settles for their buyout.

Yep. Jimbo Fisher is sick of being in a weak football conference. If they leave, where would they go? I still think Big 12 is bad idea. ACC does have their seat at the table for now. ND could still join ACC in football at some point, although, that does seem a way off now.
