and we need 3 to tie or win the game, who do YOU send out--Huegel or Lakip? I think Huegel came up big time last night. And I still haven't forgotten about the kick at FL ST. Go, Tigers!!

Should be Huegel 's job

It should be Huegel's job unless he loses it.Just because Lakip can return doesn't mean you just put him in. Now if Lakip can kick deeper on kickoffs then I say let him handle that duty definitely. But as far as field goals it's Huegel's.

He made a mistake and paid for it. Move on. Lakip has been solid for us. Huegel gets his shot next year

it. Lakip can handle kick off duty, but until Huegel implodes, he should be our placekicker. He's earned it. IMHO especially after last night. On the road, HOSTILE environment, close game... Really needed both of those field goals. He was cool as a cucumber and nailed them.
How'd Lakip do in that hostile environment in Tallahassee last year?

I agree - but, h3ll - Huegel was looking just fine on kickoffs last night. He was putting them in the end zone. His very first FG (last week) was rough, sure - but at this point, it looks like he's got it down. It's not my decision, but I say it's his job to lose.

I'm not sure we watched the same game. Kickoffs last night were terrible. Heugel hit a couple big field goals, but we need another answer for kickoffs.

That's the one best example of an effective KO he's made

His kicks otherwise were low and short. If he's going to continue to do that, then he's going to put a lot of unnecessary pressure on kick coverage.
This is not an attempt to excuse our poor kick coverage, but just to point out that a deep kick covers all ills on the coverage side.

I look at it this way.

When Catman was a freshman and sophomore we had to waste a play to get the ball centered in the hash marks. Remember LSU? This kid hit from both hash marks last night.
For the future of our kicking game and the love of coke I'd leave Lakip to cleanup to earn his way back onto the first team. I suspect that's Dabo's thinking too.

IMO Lakip has no automatic right to be 1st team kicker. Let the competition in practice decide who kicks on gameday - play the best regardless of seniority.

Only way Lakip should see the field is if he can kick it out of the endzone on kickoffs, other thanks that he needs to ride the pine.

Its Huegel's until he loses it, pretty sure the next two weeks will be some hard core coaching to figure out who the starter will be. Either way we got to figure something else out for our kickoffs. Beyond scared on every punt and kick return right now...

...and unless he does something to lose the starting job, it's his. Now, just to clarify, I thought we were in deep doodoo without Lakip just like many of you. But the kid has been solid and I actually didn't get the yipes last night when we lined up for a FG. And he nailed them.

Never been really impressed with Lakip anyway. He was a wreck in the UGA and FSU games last year. Then his selfish act this summer means it is not his job to lose.
