Does the Big 12 belong in the discussion for the

championship playoffs? Every other conferences' top two teams have to play a championship game with the possibility of losing a spot in the playoffs. Think of this: Pac 12, Oregon loses in the PAC12CG to Arizona, if they beat ASU. Big10: Ohio State loses to Nebraska. SEC: Miss State loses to Missouri. ACC: FSU loses to Duke. While TCU, wait TCU, isn't even the conference champion but basically has a bye into the playoffs. Something is not right there.

If a team from the SECwest can get in WITHOUT

making it to the SECCG, sure the BIG 12 has that right. If they just want to take the conference champions, then they'd be the ODD man out.

I don't think you can say anything unless you give the conference champion an auto bid. If you are going to make things subjective you can't make rules to limit conferences.

So are you saying....

that if a two or three loss Missouri team (for example), a team that lost to a 3 - 6 Indiana team, manages to win the $EC Championship game, they should be in the playoffs ahead of a one loss Baylor or TCU team?

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

how about a team not in any conference that picks every game they play?

They have 10 teams and can play a true full conference schedule and crown a conference champ the best possible way. They have zero reason to have a conference championship game, as they all play each other.

Assuming their champion is 11-1 they absolutely deserve a spot int he playoff. Other conferences chose to expand to the point of having to have a conference championship game, so that's on them.

I'm not a fan of mega-conferences and wish we could all go back to 10 team conferences which crown their champion based entirely on regular season performance, but sadly those days are in the past.

Yes, because unlike the SEC, ACC, Big 10, and Pac 12...

where teams don't have to play all of the best teams in the conference, the Big 12 plays a full, 9-game conference schedule. TCU doesn't get to play Baylor and Kansas State, but miss WVU and Oklahoma...they have to face everyone.
