I know we are all curious to see how we play tomorrow

after (another) COVID pause. However, Wake Forest seems to be a nearly ideal ACC opponent for a bounce back game. Consider:

-They currently 13th in the ACC standings, at 3-11 in league play.
-They are on a 3 game losing streak.
-They are 2-4 at home in ACC play, with wins over Pitt (76-75) and Miami (66-54), and losses to Louisville (77-65), Virginia Tech (64-60), Duke (84-60), and NC State (80-62)
-They rank 132nd nationally in offense
-They rank 141st nationally in defense

In terms of NET ranking, we are #39 and Wake is #138.

On paper, we should win this one easily.

However, road games in the ACC are never easy. We have two things working against us, the first being that we haven't played a game in almost two weeks, and the second being that we don't historically play well in Winston-Salem.

Here's to our team being eager to get back out on the court and continue the great play we displayed prior to the COVID pause. Go Tigers!

Lol. We have struggled there for many years. Remember last year’s beat down loss that hurt our bubble chances. Wake’s record is misleading. Missed a month of the season to COVID and have improved a lot considering they started so bad. New coach Steve Forbes has done a good job of laying the foundation of the culture there. He will fight for his players as he was ejected in the Duke loss. We are also coming off a week pause. I’ll be shocked if we beat them handily at their place. A loss could be very costly in our NET ranking.

I’m not sure why you frequently have knee jerk reactions

to my posts.

I acknowledged that it’s a road game and that we don’t historically play well at Wake.

I didn’t promise a win, blowout or otherwise.

My post was very fair in laying out Wake’s season, and what we have going for and against us in this game. So I’m not sure what your response was about.

It was a response to YOUR post giving stats and then editorial of your thoughts on the game and its importance.

Clemson basketball always seems to play poorly at Wake.

It's Clemson Basketball. That itself is against us.***

They are mid-tier ACC from the arc but near the bottom in 3pt defense. Actually, IF they minimized their turnovers, they are a decent squad... or would be. They just normally had the opposing team a few extra attempts and normally let them score. Bad D + turnovers = 3-11 even when they are decent otherwise.

IF there was a team to go all OP press, Wake would be it.

Just do it!

Analysis? If we are a good team, a legit NCAA Tournament team then this is a victory. The only caveat is if several key players are out.

I cannot think of any reasons we shouldn’t come out energetic, aggressive and confident.

Tomorrow’s game doesn’t change our status as a good NCAA Tournament team.

We should win, but it won’t be easy.

Just how one defines good. Good in my book means ...

Playing strong the last several weeks of the season and winning games when favored. Wins produce confidence and positive momentum. Teams that limp into NCAA tournament rarely do well.

‘Cuse Will be toughest of last 4 ... a loss vs. the Orange is reasonable. Other losses in the last 4, not so much. Also should win a game in ACC tourney.

A “GOOD” NCAA tournament team has a high probability to win one game ..... maybe two. Any team Clemson faces in the Tournament wil likely be better than Wake.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg link

Well, we are currently projected as a 6 or 7 seed in dozens of brackets.

That implies that we will be favored to win our first tournament game.

Good teams lose games all the time, so your definition of good seems pretty unforgiving to me.

that any expectations for this team coming out of a COVID pause are unreasonable.

If we don't win a game in the tournament, assuming we make it, then it's probably time to turn the page. Correct?
