I think it is pretty clear based on the timing of his announcement that he was scared to play in a night game at Syracuse.

He most likely already knew that it gets so hot and humid in the dome, but now he is finding out that it will be their homecoming, a sellout, and it will be dark outside.

I completely understand his line of thinking. I hope the rest of our team sticks it out in the face of this daunting assignment.
