Do all Big 10 and Big East schools even have baseball teams?

Jun 25, 2012, 12:20 PM

Seems like you rarely see a northern team in the CWS. It is mostly all Pac-12, SEC, ACC. I read somewhere that the northern teams are at a huge disadvantage because of the cold weather and snow, and that they don't get to practice as much.

I was wondering if some of the schools even had a baseball team. Up there, hockey is probably more important to them in baseball.

Just trying to get some context on what a national championship in baseball means vs. football. Seems that there is less competition in baseball.

Yes, in fact the B10 was thinking of pulling out of the NCAA

in baseball so they could play all summer when the weather is warm.

Most of you.

Most of them do.

I think Wisconsin is the only Big 10 team that doesn't have a baseball program. Big East might be missing a couple.

But most of them are not very good. Purdue was highly ranked all year, but did nothing in the postseason.

there's way more D1 baseball teams up north than D1 hockey.

No

The Big 10 only has 11 baseball playing schools (Wisconsin)

The Big East has 12 which is 4 more than their football conference and about 32 fewer than their basketball conference. Syracuse doesn't have a baseball program.

Not even the Big 12 has 12 baseball programs (Iowa State)

that would be hard considering they have 10 teams haha.

But in all seriousness, the northern teams are at a huge disadvantage

No baseball in Iowa??

I thought every cornfield in Iowa had a field of dreams installed right in the middle! I better check my sources again.... ;)
