Being of Irish descent, i listen to about 30 minutes of Irish songs on St. Paddy's Day...generally drunken regales or paradies...any more and i want to take a sledgehammer to the jukebox...DAYUM!!!

acquiesced to English tyranny and have fought for freedom from them for centuries, but being a solid orange Ulster Scot I can't but help think how the upcoming game is going to make the Battle of the Boyne look like a picnic to ND fans.

I saw where some BC fans were doing chants of lyrics by something called “The Dropkick Murphys.” So, out of curiosity I watched some of their videos. ####, now I’m a pirate peg going out in style as the season is upon us! Hooked on Irish punk rock! So, be warned, listen at your own risk!

One of the most poignant, and most illustrative moments in American history came at Marye's Heights, VA in the battle of Fredericksburg in 1862.
The Irish Brigade of Massachusetts marched straight up the hill into the withering fire of the Irish Brigade from GA. Many Georgians were openly crying at slaughtering their fellow-Irishmen; having left home and country to avoid fighting in English wars, they had come to America and fought each other instead.
Of course, the Yanks condemned the Georgian Irish for defending a rich man's right to own another man, while the Georgians condemned the Yanks for joining an invading army to enforce foreign laws.
Both fought and suffered and died for opposing principles.
Then again, some say that an Irishman cannot resist a good fight, so their involvement in the war--all wars--is inevitable.

fighting for the rich when many a rich Southron volunteered to defend their hearths and homes while the rich Yankees bought their way out of service and let the new immigrants fight their war for them.
