Thoughts on CM and Vandy...

Jan 11, 2014, 10:46 AM

I think he's obviously ready to make the jump to head coach but here's why I think he should think twice about Vandy. Against the SEC, his offenses have not exactly torn it up(except against UGA). Scored low 20's against LSU, high teens multiple times against USC. Given that he would have a worse defense to work with at Vandy and fewer dynamic playmakers on offense, this could lead to a fairly large # of losses.

If that happens, his luster as an up and comer would wear off to some degree. I'm all for him moving up but the job needs to be right. And I'm not trying to hype the SEC with this post so please don't think that's my point. Our O also did squat against FSU this year.

My thoughts....
- no one will take Vandy any higher than they are right now. This is their peak
- the talent he is used to getting here won't go to Vandy

I'd be very surprised he considers Vandy.

Agree. They might offer him triple his pay which would obviously be very hard to turn down, but there are going to be much better jobs than Vandy available in the next few years for him to make the jump to head coach.

do you think he will ever get a hc job at a MAJOR school or will he have to take a mid level job to prove himself as a hc? remember gm turned down the vandy job only to have to go arky state and take a huge paycut. imo he will have to go mid level to get a hc job. most jobs that are successful will hire an assistant when the hc leaves. he needs to go to a program that he can develop and improve to allow him to move to a major program just like franklin did.

As weird as this is to say, he might be better off taking

a job at a mid-major rather than a job like Vandy. Vandy is a really hard job.

I think Franklin is going to tear it up at PSU, and make

some other programs wish they had hired him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree. Get's to take a full class in 2015

Jan 11, 2014, 11:06 AM

I'm a little surprised with PSU hiring him and the stuff that occurred with Vandy players - allegedly - this past year.

Considering the 'new' ACC, they're probably the best fit.***

Vandy is a fools errand

Jan 11, 2014, 11:04 AM

Franklin had the best stretch in school history yet never came close to a championship or even mid tier bowl. Worst facilities in the SEC, smallest fan base and worst tradition. Morris can do better

Pretty sure they have or are about to have the best fatalities in the SEC East with a 31 million dollar indoor facility.
