If Riley leaves Okla for Browns next yr do they go after BV?

Oct 30, 2018, 9:04 AM

The hot take right now is that the Browns will go after Oklahoma's coach Lincoln Riley once the season is over. If he accepts, could you see Oklahoma going after Venables as their new head coach? I could see Okla retaining one of Riley's proteges as OC to maintain the same offensive structure, but we all know that their defense has been a dumpster fire (seeing that they fired their D-Coordinator mid-season). Brent is familiar with the administration since that was his previous employer and he would definitely be the answer to fix their defense.

Oklahoma is a prime job where you know you can win. I would think that it would be hard for any assistant coach wanting to be a head coach to turn down that job if offered.

I don't know that BV wants to be a HC.

I think it might be difficult for many to believe, but I think he just loves being a coordinator so much that he wouldn't want to deal with the politics, drama, etc. of being a HC. I'm also not sure that he would want to leave with his son being on the team, although he could end up going along with his dad to any other school.

My gut says he wouldn't want it, but who knows.

Just said this week: He loves his job! With kids in school

there and momma and family happy, I don't see him leaving anytime soon although if one job could pull him away it might be OU.

Lincoln Riley has only been a HC for 2 years

and has ZERO NFL experience.

Why would the Cleveland Brown even remotely consider this guy (aside from the fact that they are Cleveland)?

Granted, Sean McVay is a bit younger, but he does have over ten years of NFL coaching experience under his belt.

They’re the browns lol. They are a good coach away from being decent, but somehow they will screw it up

I think they're more likely to go after someone like...

John DeFilippo, Eric Bieniemy or maybe Dan Campbell.
