SHOCKING! WHO would have thought?!
Well, at least with the FSU game, we won't be on upset alert! Now, if we can just get that tool Corso to pick against us for every game...

Only two teams have done it in the last five years. Clemson hasn't done it in 35 years.
Predicting Clemson to not lose a game would be more adventurous than picking them to lose a game. Same goes for Alabama, FSU, or anyone else.

FPI still has some 'splaining to do. They somehow had Oklahoma favored over us, and I think we came in at #4 or #5 or something even after crushing the Sooners by 20.
S&P+ from footballoutsiders.com has been a lot more accurate than FPI over the last few years. If you wanna listen to the math geeks, at least listen to the right ones.

I wonder what the FPI PREDICTION rate has been. Clemson had almost no chance going to the national playoff last year. But the FPI was wrong. It's just a math model subject to input conditions. Don't believe anything you read about National Playoffs. It's BS and intended to generate interest only in a website.

I think the shear presence of dw4 changes things. I'm honestly more worried about our house of horror (atl) than at fsu. We have played them close at fsu but this is a different team, and with DW4 at the helm I feel a little more comfortable. In my opinion he really hasn't lost a game as the starter. Barely played at the loss to gt and did everything he could to win the nc. That loss was solely on special teams and defensive busts. He put up record numbers.

I was thinking the same thing. Does the FSU qb compare to Watson? Not likely. Delvin Cook is the guy to watch out for. Both squads have lost a lot of great players from the last couple of years. So it comes down to coaching and execution. I think Clemson has enough explosive play makers to win this one at Doak-Campbell. If they put up 40 against 'Bama, they can put up some points against FSU.

Here is the 2015 Preseason FPI rankings: Notice Clemson, a team that played for the national championship started at #19, behind powerhouse teams like Arkansas, Tennessee, and Auburn. No coincidence that the most overrated teams are from the SEC.
1 Ohio State 2 Alabama 3 TCU 4 LSU 5 Baylor 6 Oregon 7 Notre Dame 8 Ole Miss 9 Georgia 10 Arkansas 11 Texas A&M 12 UCLA 13 USC 14 Tennessee 15 Oklahoma 16 Michigan State 17 Stanford 18 Auburn 19 Clemson 20 Arizona State 21 Florida State 22 Mississippi State 23 Georgia Tech 24 Missouri 25 Michigan 26 Virginia Tech 27 Texas 28 Florida 29 Miami (FL) 30 Oklahoma State 31 Boise State 32 Arizona 33 West Virginia 34 Wisconsin 35 North Carolina 36 California 37 Penn State 38 Utah 39 Kansas State 40 South Carolina 41 Nebraska 42 North Carolina State 43 Pittsburgh 44 Louisville 45 Brigham Young 46 Washington 47 Texas Tech 48 Kentucky 49 Marshall 50 Temple 51 Vanderbilt 52 Cincinnati 53 Appalachian State 54 Minnesota 55 Virginia 56 Duke 57 Western Kentucky 58 Utah State 59 Washington State 60 Louisiana Tech 61 Western Michigan 62 Illinois 63 Georgia Southern 64 Iowa 65 Colorado 66 Memphis 67 Arkansas State 68 Northwestern 69 Purdue 70 Houston 71 Northern Illinois 72 Toledo 73 UCF 74 Indiana 75 Syracuse 76 Ball State 77 Wake Forest 78 Maryland 79 East Carolina 80 Rutgers 81 Oregon State 82 Navy 83 San Diego State 84 Boston College 85 Middle Tennessee 86 Iowa State 87 Florida International 88 Fresno State 89 Tulsa 90 San Jose State 91 Nevada 92 Texas State 93 Bowling Green 94 Ohio 95 Louisiana-Lafayette 96 Rice 97 Tulane 98 Massachusetts 99 Central Michigan 100 Air Force 101 South Florida 102 Colorado State 103 Old Dominion 104 Kent State 105 New Mexico 106 Louisiana-Monroe 107 Southern Miss 108 Florida Atlantic 109 North Texas 110 Southern Methodist 111 UTEP 112 Hawaii 113 Kansas 114 South Alabama 115 Akron 116 New Mexico State 117 Georgia State 118 Connecticut 119 UTSA 120 Buffalo 121 Wyoming 122 Miami (OH) 123 Troy 124 Idaho 125 UNLV 126 Charlotte 127 Army 128 Eastern Michigan

Arkansas a 97.8% chance of beating FSU in Tallahassee, a 99.407% chance in the National Title game, and a 102.5% chance on any of Saturn's moons.

ESPN's FPI says it all.
Apr 12, 2016, 5:11 PM
|

"The FPI ranking formula is virtually a mystery to all outside a few in Bristol, Connecticut. The only information published on how the rankings are calculated is very vague and questionable in accuracy. The only explanations for the ranking system we could find from ESPN are these….
The previous year’s performance “OFFENSE: Offensive efficiency in terms of offense’s contribution to scoring margin on all its plays, adjusted for strength of opposing defenses* faced. DEFENSE: Defensive efficiency in terms of defense’s contribution to scoring margin on all its plays, adjusted for strength of opposing offenses* faced. SPECIAL TEAMS: Special teams efficiency in terms of special teams’ contribution to scoring margin on all its plays, adjusted for strength of opposing special teams* faced. OVERALL: Overall net efficiency, summing up adjusted offensive, defensive, and special teams efficiencies; a measure of scoring margin per game, adjusted for schedule*.” Returning starters, Starting QB return counts most Coach changes, positive if last year was poor, negative if prior year was good Recruiting rankings..."

We need to prove we can win @ Ga Tech & FSU ... by doing it!
Apr 12, 2016, 5:26 PM

We've got the athletes and the coaches in place now to win every game, every year, but we still have to prove it on the field. We haven't won a game in Atlanta since 2003 or in Tallahassee since 2006.

ANYTHING THAT ESPN POSTS THIS EARLY IS PURE DRIBBLE. We were on upset watch and still beat FSU, NOTRE DAME and Oklahoma. Barring a screw up on Special Teams, we could have very well beat Alabama. Pure speculation by someone in Bristol trying to stir the perverbial pot to keep their job. Clemson has the Talent, better Coaching and a winning mindset ! GO TIGERS!!!
