Did anyone hear Mark Packer give out the bizzaro tidbit of day?

Dec 9, 2019, 8:35 PM

LSU has won 3 Nattys.
All in New Orleans.
All 3 vs the 3 teams in CFP.

That’s some crazy #### right there. I don’t care who you are.

Let me clarify...

Dec 9, 2019, 8:39 PM

All 3 of their Natty’s are against the same 3 teams in this years CFP...

That stat isn't exactly true.

National champion was voted on before bowl games back then so LSU is the natty champ no matter the results of the 1958 game

Same three programs. But the Clemson team this year much better than anything LSPU has ever faced. They will understand what 'Bammer went through last January.

Good thing all we do is f_ck up what usually happens.

One important footnote

Dec 9, 2019, 8:51 PM

When we played LSU in the 1958 Sugar Bowl, bowls were nothing but post season exhibition games. The national championship had already been awarded to LSU at the end of the regular season. If we had won the game by 5 scores, LSU would have still been the champion. So in reality, they didn't win it by beating us.

Notre Dame didn't even accept bowl invitations until the 1969 season because of that fact.

Guess it's time to break their streak.***

Not correct. LSU did not win the 1958 NC by beating us in the 1959 Sugar Bowl. Until the mid 1960s, national champions were declared by the final AP and UPI votes at the end of the regular seasons. Bowl games had no effect on national championships, and some official NC teams actually lost their bowl games.

If we had won that Sugar Bowl by 3 TDs, LSU would still be the 1958 NC.

So, just the Law of Averages is working heavily against the

Corndoggers this time around. Along with a Clemson team that is by far better than 1958. :)
