VT Road Trip ?

Jan 24, 2017, 3:53 PM

Is a road trip to VT better as a day trip or is it worth staying over for the weekend?

That's my away trip this year- just booked 2 rooms for ONLY game night at $85 each (days inn Blacksburg conference center)

Much cheaper than my FSU hotel last year - 300 a night and 2 night min

Depends on what you are into

Blacksburg itself may not be worth a weekend stay, it's not much bigger than Clemson. It's a fun gameday environment. Tailgating is prevalent and there are some cool bars (top of the stairs near campus in particular), and the campus is worth checking out so if you wanted to take in the college and the town from that standpoint the weekend would be fun.

You could stay in Roanoke which is becoming the "next Asheville" according to some publications. It's got a revitalized downtown area, some brewerys a nice art museum and an up an coming food scene. It's about 45 minutes from Blacksburg.

There would be several things you could hit along the blue ridge parkway as well if you were making a weekend of it as well.

If you're into outdoors/hiking/trails, etc you could definitely make more than a weekend of it, but Blacksburg itself is basically a slightly larger Clemson.

Awesome overnight/weekend trip. Blacksburg is beautiful and the people are so nice. We have been many times along with going to Winston-Salem....it's fun!
