Which is a better seed to be 4 or 5

Other than the obvious answer that 4 is better than 5

Which seeding affords us a better path to the elite 8
I know how the selection committee places the 1-4 seeds in the bracket
and I know that the 5 seed plays the 12 seed, but how are the middle seeds placed
and what is the best path?

Which gives us the easiest 2nd round game...of course assuming we win the 1st round game?

The 4 is much better. The reason for all the 5-12 upsets is that there are some at-large qualifiers in at the 12 seed. Not so for the 13 seed. These are all small conference champions, thus level of competition increases greatly by dropping off the 4 line to the 5 line. After that, there's absolutely no difference. as the 4 and 5 seeds meet in the next game.
