David Hood, let me get this straight

You are saying since we lost a back-up defensive end, an Olineman with an up and down career, and a coked out kicker, we have dropped form a favorite in the ACC to second fiddle? I just can't disagree more. Every teams has attrition and ours is average. Now, if DW were lost for the season, I would agree, but the players in question are not going to wreck our season. We may be better off...

out kicker." He started off like Cat man did missing kicks early in his career, but came back later to nail every one. Ammon will be great if he tows the line and makes the best of his 2nd chance if he's given one.

Yes , no way it makes us stronger to lose 2 starters and a potential . On the upside , in my mind at least ..we are talented at every position due to the magnificent recruiting that has been instituted under Swinney ...and so in years past this type of attrition may indeed have sunk a season by destroying our depth ...but maybe not so much these days. I think Hyatt and Spence and the younger DL guys who are next up are very very good . Let us see what shakes out . Trust the coaching staff . Go Tigers

Kicker is an important but easily replaceable position. We have plenty of guys on the DLine and OLine. Dabo is no fool

Easily replaceable? Do you remember the years before Catman?

Prior to Catman, we spent over a decade complaining on these boards about how we wished we had a consistent kicker.

Does that ring a bell at all? Plus DW hasn't proved he can stay healthy.
Combo of factors man.

Yep, we lost some guys on defense. Yep, we are bringing back some very good defensive players as well. We are reloading, youll see that when the 2015 Tiger defense gets rolling. Venables and staff are the keys. Give them the studs and they will coordinate it, its what they do.
Losing Lakip, if he is indeed gone, gives Spence the chance he needs. Battle leaving gives Hyatt and Gore and Fruh the chance to step in. DW4 is the least of my worries staying healthy. I think that the new OC staff will call a game plan to their strengths, and their strengths, IMO, is simple......get the ball into the hands of the playmakers and let them go with it. The OL is the key obviously, Battle was primed to show out, but thats not going to happen now.
So, Im kinda glad that our first two games doesnt include Auburn or Georgia this year, it will give these other pieces time to prepare for the rest of the season.

Lakip will be back by Louisville. IF he meets whatever requirements and restrictions Dabo puts on him.

With just the loss at OT, we are now tied for 114th nationally in returning starters. Depending on the status at PK, that could drop to 121 out of 128 teams. We're also down to 113th, or something like that, in career starts on the OL.

I do not really care what the media, vegas, polls, etc. say about us. The only poll that matters is the one that after the last game puts 4 teams in a playoff. All we need to worry about is not losing games. The ACC has a strong enough schedule that winning out will put us where we need to be. Pre-season hype is just hype; its worthless as #### on a boar hog.
