Lets look at what our starting D has given up this season...

Kent State - 3 points...I don't remember if this was against the starters or not, so we will say it was: 3
Auburn - 6 points...3 points on opening drive - 3 points on turn over in the redzone...so total in this game was: 3
Lousiville - 21 points. 7 points against the starters - 14 points against back ups
Boston College: 7 points against starters
VA Tech - 3 points against starters...7 points against starters on a punt return inside the 5 yrd line (so that's on the special teams)...and 7 points against the back ups.
Wake - 14 points against back ups (not going to count the 7 points when the starters were brought in after wake was in the red zone.
Over all - based on teams driving against our starting d - they have given up 23 points in 6 games...or under 4 points a game.

Through the first 6 or 7 games that 2015 D was every bit as good as 2014. The big plays they gave up didn't happen until the later part of the season.

Gosh, it sure feels like this year we are doing better on turnover margin than last year. Guess not based on the numbers.
Also, I love the improved time of possession this year. Keep fresh legs for our defense so they will continue to dominate late in the year, unlike the great Bama D which wilted during the championship game in January.

We've had 5 less turnovers through 6 games than 2016

However, we've had 8 less takeaways. So, our turnover margin is negative this year and it was slightly positive last year after 6 games (but was negative by the end of the year).
