I'm a really big fan of Darnell and think he has a great future. It does appear that he has not (yet) benefited from the weight room and nutrition programs in terms of weight gain. If I'm not mistake, he has not gained much weight (currently listed at 280) since he arrived at 265.....am I mistaken? Doesn't he need to be above 280 lbs as a D Tackle?

They discovered (I think in or just before fall camp) that he has diabetes. Since they have began treatments for that he has gained 15-20 lbs

As odd as it sounds you don't have to gain/lose weight sometimes to get benefit from the weight room.

He lost 15lbs approx before he was diagnosed-

They normally like DT's to be somewhere starting in the neighborhood of 290 lbs. and up!
At 265 and 6'2 kind of puts him in a tweener of a DE and LB. On the CU page he is listed at 280.

Hopefully he is having a easy transition as he adjust to living with diabetes. I would think with him being an athlete it is not the most serious variety? Anyone know what type?
