As "Top Coaches" go, Dabo's approach to the N.Championship might stand alone.
He's always said, "Winning the Natty is NOT our goal. Sure - I'd love to have 15 or more trophies - but that's not what it's about here."
That's a little odd, since I bet Saban, Meyer, Smart, Harbunk, Orgeron, Malzahn -& dozens of others - that is the ONLY goal.
But, how can anyone argue against the "Dabo Method?" Would anyone within the CU community want to change anything Dabo does? Doubt it.
For me, I wouldn't want to be a fan under the "Saban Regime." The "trophies" would be okay, but listening to snarky Nick all year would be nerve-racking.
Saban at restaurant: ...I'll have the baked chicken with THE TROPHY.
Saban at wedding: "Do you take this woman to -" N.S.: "I'll take her & THE TROPHY."
Saban at child's birth: "Mr. Saban - it's a boy!" N.S.: "...Hmmm. I was hoping for a TROPHY!"
Dabo's philosophy & approach might be different from all other top echelon coaches, but I like it and it works.
