Lunge poll, of sorts. How old is too old to buy a Mustang?

Apr 4, 2017, 9:25 AM

Does it matter if it's a "special" one (Saleen, Shelby, SVT Cobra).

Want to sell my old 'toy' car and get one that I can drive more frequently.

Get a Miata you won't regret it***

Ski was head coach until I was gone - I didn't realize Jack came back to coach - he was the 'keeper my first couple of years on the team. Learned a lot from him, dude was like a cat.

Apr 4, 2017, 9:32 AM

I really love the '65 fastback. my dad bought one about 15 years ago but sold it for an older ford. A friend of mine had a '98 cobra and that was a sweet ride as well

Too old is when you can't get our as.s off the couch and into the shop

After consulting The Big Book Of Federal Statutes

Apr 4, 2017, 9:37 AM

I could find no age limitations on the purchase of a Mustang of any model. Further, the South Carolina Big Book Of Laws And Stuff does not contain any restrictions. You would have to consult The Big Book Of Laws And Stuff of the state or municipality you live to determine if there are any more local restrictions.

bit - plus it's going to be set up for better handling I imagine than the average GT. Although having said that, the bone stock V6 model will run rings around my current car, and leave it far behind on the 1/4 mile as well I imagine.

Re: I'm thinking a Shelby model or Saleen sets it apart a little

Apr 4, 2017, 10:00 AM

I purchased my F-150 from a place called OC welsh ford in hilton head. They had about 10 petty mustangs. If you have 70-150k to drop on a mustang I suggest go there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yeah I'm not spending that much - that IS M3 money

Apr 4, 2017, 10:06 AM

I'm basically selling my old toy for a new one, so I'm planning to pick up a 2015+ for $30K, give or take a little.

I've seen some low-to-mid mileage candidates in that range.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

GT500 or 350, anytime is fine.

Apr 4, 2017, 9:48 AM

regular GT - over 22 is fine if your mullet extends at least 6 inches down your neck, and you never wear a shirt with sleeves.

V6 or Ecoboost 4 - Just stick with the Camry---chicks really aren't going to give you any additional attention from one of these.

Apr 4, 2017, 9:57 AM

your typical Mustang buyer wants the V8 these days.

I think Ford is trying to recreate the 65-68 phenomenon but the 6cyl Mustang of today is not what it was then, basically a re-bodied Falcon. It's a full on sports car now, just with less power.

The 6 cyl mustang was always kind of a receptionists car
