I just looked a few websites and most of them now show Georgia as the favorite at either -1 or -1.5???
How did that happen??

Moving by 1 or 1.5 is just an adjustment to suck in bets

That line doesn't really show a odds winner especially when it started out with the same margin for Clemson to win in some books. It then shifted Pick. Now must have UGA by 1 or 1.5 That's mostly book makers responding to how people are betting and trying to entice more (for Clemson).
The fact that the over/under hasn't shifted from almost 70 points and the win margin is so low says no one has any more confidence in one team over the other.
Just my two cents.

If the line moves it's due to the fact that more people are betting in that direction, not because vegas thinks that's what the outcome will be. So you're right, it doesn't matter.

my guess is the line will move a lot closer to the game

This is a truly tough one to pick, and when they announce who's injured/ suspended for the game, the line will move. I think it moves towards Clemson because we're playing at home and people are going to look at all the guys out on Georgia's defense and get worried.

Odds change to balance the bets.

Bookies don't bet or gamble. They want the bets for Clemson equal to the bets for uGAY. They take their cut off the top.
If one team is expected to win by most of those placing bets the bookies spot the other team points to entice folks to bet the other way.
The change in odds tells more of a story about how the people feel than which team will win.

Bookies are all about convincing you to bet on a line that they hope is wrong. 1st they say CU wins by a few and CU fans jump all over that, knowing that CU could win without the points. A few weeks later, they sweeten the pot for UGA and their fans jump all over it. The biggest sucker in the world is the fan betting on his own team. He will let emotion control his money. Bookies are the oldest actuaries in the world. The manage risk to the point that they can't loose. If you can get your hands on a parley card from SC and one from Ga., you might even see that the point spread is different for a different fan base.

I mean I know that's a stupid question but I'd have asked for 100 bucks and that seven with 10 bucks a point.

I prefer being the underdog and like it when "analysts"....
Aug 19, 2013, 2:15 PM

...question if we are as good as the rankings. But 1.5 is less than a score, and when the total points are so high (almost 70 in most books), it doesn't really mean either team is an underdog by much. But I'll take it. I'd prefer we were proving we were better rather than reverse....you know, pulling a _____________.
