Crow

Good Monday morning Clemson Nation. I am coming on here to eat my crow about saying we would win. Yall are a very good team and y'all were right the defensive line is better than last year. I wish we would have opened up the playbook to start the game instead of being hesitant it seemed, but I guess we were trying to see how yall were playing us. Hope all of you who went to the game enjoyed the atmosphere. Best of luck the rest of the season (except December 2nd if we make it again). Take care.

Hope so and I hope Fuente can do what Dabo did with the Clemson program. Yall are a machine and made our good offense look average.

didnt mean by saving it for someone. Seemed like the coaches were scared to throw down field because of the threat of pressure, but no way to beat the best team in the country if you arent aggressive from the get go. The 3 turnovers hurt too, but were caused by an excellent defense.

holding on a three and out. Your team never quit though, very good sign.
Would like to see our two programs be strong at the same time. We played some good series back when you had Bruce Smith. We were lost/recovering as a program during the Vick years.

We dramatically changed our defense

I went to the game and heard Fuentes interviewed after. Essentially our defensive scheme was significantly different that what was expected. It took the first half for your staff to figure it out. Once you did adjust in the second half and started to move the ball the turnovers killed you or I think it would have been a one score game either way.
We played a lot more zone and brought almost no pressure other than the front 4 on most plays. Typically we play press man and bring at least 5. I suspect our coaches wanted your QB to prove he could make passing reads and feared that he would move the sticks more with his legs than his arm so they didn't want to give him a lot of man coverage that would allow him to pick up chunks of yards with his legs if he escaped contain. I also think we knew cam phillips was too good for any one of our corners to handle man on man for an entire game so the plan was to marginalize him as much as possible, and he was mostly held in check.
And in reality your QB played well. The game wasn't out of reach at the half, plus getting that 3 and out after halftime really started to turn the momentum. The fumble and our ensuing drive was almost the nail in the coffin, but your guys and fans never quit until the pick 6, which I don't think was the QB's fault. Though he probably shouldn't have thrown it there as there was nothing to be gained, I think the WR just bobbled it. The second INT was just a freak athlete making a play, those things happen sometimes.
I suspect we'll play again, you guys seem to be able to handle GT every year, and I'm not sure I believe in Miami. We still have some obstacles, namely NC State at their place and FSU won't just hand us a win, but If I had to bet I'd say we'll see you guys again in December.

Well done Ron, So many talk trash here before the game (which is fun and welcome) but never return. I have heard many good things about the experience our fans had at the game and wish you guys the best the rest of the season.

Thanks bud. I never take it personal and none should ever. Especially in times like today in what happened in Las Vegas, we should all remember it is just a game. There are more serious things than taking a game personal. Hope this turns into a friendly rivalry and play more than every 7 years.
