There are running jokes about "a cure for the common cold."
So, yeah, we don't have a vaccine for the common cold which is a genetically similar virus to COVID19.
That would tend to make one pessimistic about a vaccine coming any time soon.
I am hopeful that a vaccine or improved treatment procedures can be found so life can get back to normal, but I'm not so unrealistic to think it won't be a difficult process.

more than a hundred different viruses. Most are rhinovirus, some are coronavirus. If it was caused by a single virus, a vaccine might be possible.

Our knowledge of the virus and specifically its mechanism of action is not clear. All political talk on near term availability is a big lie. Currently much of the clinical trials are being done press releases. The goal here is improve valuation and multiples. This is unethical.
The only cure for now is to mask up, practice social distancing and importantly protect our elders generation. Economy should resume but responsibly. Current behavior and ressistance to science points to this not ending well.

People don't think the disease is a hoax only that the media is covering it in a way to insure maximum fear. If the media headlines every day focused on the dramatically lower death totals and a plummeting mortality rate , instead of increasing numbers of positives, people would perceive their current reality entirely differently. Its obvious to anyone with a brain the media is pushing this agenda for a reason. Do you really think that its a coincidence you NEVER hear about the total collapse of deaths, compared to April, yet literally almost every positive result is newsworthy? That doesn't even get into other inconvenient facts the media never discusses such as how it has pretty much no effect on kids at all, or that almost half of all deaths occur in nursing homes, or that many of the people categorized as dying "from" covid actually die "with" it and are misclassified which artificially boots covid death numbers, or how about all those people texting "positive" for covid antibodies which means they had it at some point but don't now but are still counted as "positives" by the medical community.
Newsflash. Tens of millions of people have either already had or currently have covid. Weve suspected this for a while and the current testing is confirming this fact. The media pretending this is some kind of wave of death that's gonna kill us is all anti science nonsense.

Almost certain there will be several vaccine options within 6-9 months. Mass distribution to follow shortly after.
I don't believe in blind optimism or fatalistic pessimism on matters like this. There are so many promising trials going on there is little doubt several will be viable options. Therefore, at some point in the future, football will return with fans. How many fans and under what conditions nobody knows. Safe to say it will be different from the past; perhaps much different.
One more thing on vaccines: There are different kinds and we will have choices. One thing to be learned about each is (1) the percentage efficacy, (2) how much symptom reduction is offered and (3) how long immunity lasts.
Cheer up and encourage the morons among us to wear masks.

about every country in the world are pushing hard for one. If the same zeal was applied to the common cold virus, we would probably come up with one for that too. Who knows, we may get a vaccine for the cold virus as a collateral discovery while trying to find one for coronavirus.
